Take a Ride With Me In a HMMWV On a FOB In Afghanistan
If you were ever interested in what you'd see on a daily basis for 12-15 months on a FOB (Forward Operating Base) in Afghanistan then here's the answer to your questions. Please feel free to follow me if you'd like to see more. In the upcoming posts, I will be outlining my personal experiences and situations pertaining to not only my time in Afghanistan, but also my life as a soldier in the Army trying to maintain my sanity between deployments. I will revert back to life before the service occasionally also.
The experiences I will share with you have been somewhat of a closely guarded secret in my inner circle. Of course, some names, places, and faces will be changed to protect the identities of the ones closest to me. I'd love to say that I enlisted due to patriotic motives, but in reality, I joined the Army after waking up one morning and finally realizing that I was on a path to ultimate destruction. A life sentence, or death. So if interested, take another ride with me. Live through my eyes and hold me down along the way.
Some things may be a bit hard to digest. You may even be disgusted occasionally, but I need you to understand that this is my therapy. I've lived and I've grown. I'm older now and even though you may not be able to comprehend why, I'm trusting that you have compassion in the fact that people can only draw from what they know in an attempt to stay alive.
In any case, Thanks for stopping by and I wish you nothing but positivity in everything you do. Take care...
Great post, looking forward to the next.
