A Private Student

An Interesting Offer

Two weeks ago a friend of mine contacted me and asked for help. He came to Sweden from South Africa a year ago and he’s been working full-time ever since. As such, he doesn’t have time for taking regular Swedish classes, nor energy for evening school. So he asked me if I had some ideas for him to help him learn Swedish. Needless to say, ideas I had!

Private Lessons

I offered him to be his private tutor. I am already teaching Swedish language full-time and I’m loving it! So I thought I was qualified enough to teach privately, just to a single student. I hadn’t had private students until that point, but I thought it would be fun. And, indeed, it proved to be a nice and rewarding experience. My friend is a quick learner and his prior knowledge of Afrikaans and English helps him make a swift progress in Swedish, another Germanic language. It’s fun to work with him! And I’m always up to make some money aside from my main job. Side hustles is a great way to put one’s time and energy into cash, while having fun. Don’t you agree?

Now we are meeting once or twice a weeks in the city library for 90-minutes study sessions. We work on all four skills in the course of our lesson: reading, listening comprehension, writing and speaking. I am cheering for my friend and I am confident that soon he’ll be speaking Swedish well enough. Please wish my friend good luck!

well done for helping a friend and good luck to your friend :)

Thank you, my friend! I'm also getting paid for my tutoring service, so it's not just altruism, you know. :)

I know it's still good though

So when are you going to teach me Swedish language?

a) at SteemFest in Lisbon,
b) whenever you come to Sweden to visit me. ;)

Until then, c) www.DuoLingo.com

Lol! Ain't you going to come to Africa to teach me?

That would be a very expensive tutoring service! ;)) Prepare to fork over all your hard-won STEEM, friend! :-P :D We’ll call it “Hard Fork 20” and I’ll ask you to describe your feelings about it in ten words… in Swedish!

Hahahaha! So funny. Are you on steemit.chat?

I am. But it’s not working for me at the moment for some strange reason. After I log in, it doesn’t load any of the channels. Is it working for you?

No. You may want to come on discord. I'll login there later.

Teaching is one noble profession that requires certain skill sets- understanding your student's level of comfort in learning and adjusting your style accordingly, not to mention the tons of patience required for this. Kudos to you sir!

This comment made my day!! :)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Thank you!!

My pleasure! Glad to hear it, the least I can do after....
........

HAHAHA

Hahaha!!.. :D No, you won fair and square, because you were the worthy opponent and a great player! Good luck in the final!

Thank you! I was kinda scared a bit to battle with you seeing how you almost always reply first! Luck played a huge part hehe. I hope Miely is not dreaming during the final round. Lol

Learning someone is a great job! I'm teacher too! :)) Wish you luck in your job:)))

Indeed, learning someone can be a project of a lifetime! ;) But I’m single, so I’m focusing on learning myself. :)

And yes, teaching others is a very meaningful and rewarding work! What do you teach, @pepe.maya?

By the way, Eckhart Tolle is one of my favourite authors too!

I'm so glad you like Eckhart Tolle. I'm hight school sociology teacher.
And of course you will find your soulmate :))) @oleg326756

wow. it looks that you enjoy teaching :) I'm planning to travel on sweden (in my dreams for now, LOL). Kidding aside, I am also an educator, I really love watching my students grow from time to time.
