Guess What I Found Metal Detecting?!

I like metal detecting, but I don't do it like most of the stereotypical ideas about metal detecting. I don't dig in dirt! I metal detect at the beach!!

I am too lazy to be getting on the ground and digging holes. I rather metal detect in the water where I have much better luck! I can dig up pennies all day long in the dirt, but I rather go for jewelry at the beach

So I like to get out metal detecting as soon as the ice starts melting away from the shore. A few weeks ago, we had a spell of warm weather that didn't last long, but it melted the lake enough to get out. I think over the winter, the ice stirs up the sand and helps to expose stuff that was previously buried.

I don't have a top of the line machine, but a middle of the road detector, the Minelab 705. It is not water proof on top so I have to be careful! I found a brass buckle, a brass valve and....

Spoiler Alert

Before you go further, you should watch my video of the hunt!

This doesn't always happen!

Don't run out and think every time you go out you will find a ring. Yes I have found quite a few gold rings, its just doesn't happen all the time!

I believe the rocks are real diamonds because they are very small. If it were CZ, I think they would have used a large bling sized CZ stone.

The 10k means its 10 carat gold, which is the lowest quality, but hey its still GOLD lol!!! I was REALLY happy to find it and start the 2017 season off to a GOLDEN start LOL

That is a nice find and beautiful nature!
Congratulations.

Thank you so much for checking it out!

Awesome good for you ! This may be a sign that your going to have a great year !! Yippee !👍💍💍💍

I hope so. I really have been out since coz winter decided not to leave Michigan yet and it is so bitter cold in the water even with waders on! Thanks much for stopping by!

No problem best of luck to you !😉👍💍

yeah, good luck hit you I suppose, it's not like in games that people find rings and much less diamond ones :) I was wondering about that yesterday when I saw the old dog post and here you are :) good thing I followed :) well at least it should make the walks more fun :)

Yeah the old dogs post is the one that gave me the reminder to put this one up. Guys on some of the big tourist beaches like in Florida really find the jewelry. Our beach doesn't get as much traffic, but its still fun. Thanks a bunch for stopping by!

that would be so cool to explore the beach with one of these

For sure and its addicting coz you really never know what you will find next!

Metal detecting hobbies have always been on my "bucket list" since I was a pre-teen living in Northern California (Fort Bragg for those wondering how far North). I was not thinking about a bucket list as a pre-teen, I was thinking about metal detectors and such (in the mid 80's they were not exactly cheap). I later added this hobby to my bucket list.

I grew up on the beaches of Northern California. Glass Beach being my favorite - before people started hauling out buckets of samples for their crafts. I can only imagine the untold "treasures" hidden just beneath the surface on those beaches.

Congrats on your find by the way. Thank you for reminding me how much I have always wanted to just get out there and wave a device over the ground for fun (I am now 40 years old - my how time flies).

Well that's younger than when I started! The nice thing is a decent detector is not overly expensive like they probably were in the 80's. To really get the bug, watch some metal detecting vids on YouTube. There is a big nice community of MDers there. I know a guy that does pretty good at Pismo beach in CA. His YT channel is https://www.youtube.com/user/MichaelSwan66 Of course you are welcome to follow along my channel that is in the post as well!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you take the plunge! Its a great hobby!

Maybe some day I will be able to return to the northern beaches of California. For now though, I am living in Arkansas so if I am ever able to pick up metal detecting it may be at some of our national parks here (may be a hidden treasure trove of lost memorabilia out there).

Thank you for re-igniting that spark for me. It was one of those things that was in the back of my mind all these years but I had not been able to quite pinpoint what it was. I hope that makes sense. lol Again, great post.

Very nice find! I have been interested in metal detecting myself, but have never done it!

Thanks its fun and can be rather addicting! Plus its cool because you can do it alone or with others. The hobby that pays you back lol.

I love your work my friend :)))

Thanks so much Pepe!
