Who said vegetarians and vegans could not be athletic ...?

Vegetarian, vegan. Behind these terms are hidden dietary patterns predominantly or totally plant food. According to popular belief, however, the athlete should eat a lot of meat to meet his increased nutritional needs through sport: what is actually happening? Can we be vegan and athletic?

Here is the answer.

Today, vegetarians and vegans can be sporty, and even sporty (very) high level!

  • Patrik Baboumian, the strongest man in the world, has been a vegan for several years. Patrik Baboumian is a German athlete born in Iran. In 2011, he had already won the title of "Strongest Man in Germany" during the Strongman Championship. But in 2013 it made even stronger, becoming the only man in the world to have carried more than 550kg on 10m. A simply mind-boggling record that shows just how much veganism is right for everyone. Patrik Baboumian was vegetarian from 2006 to 2011, and since 2011 he is a vegan, and it's quite successful!

  • Frank Medrano, vegan and with equally impressive musculature. A Star of Street workout (or calisthenics) which consists of muscle without any device, it is very popular on the internet with almost 3 million fans on Facebook, its most famous video counts more than 25 million views!

  • Sylvie Guillem, vegan and star dancer. Sylvie Guillem, born on February 23, 1965 in Paris, is a French dancer. She is the star of the Ballet of the Paris National Opera and the Royal Ballet of London. Sylvie Guillem is considered one of the biggest ballerinas.

  • Torre Washington, born in the United States, vegetarian since birth, now vegan.
Torre was born in Birmingham in the state of Alabama in the United States. He has been a vegetarian since birth and has become a vegan by choice in 1998. Adept of the Rastafari way of life called "ITAL" in agreement with the earth and the creatures, it follows the hygienist principles and promotes the vegan food mode . He has been a coach and bodybuilder since 2009 and has won numerous bodybuilding competitions in the United States. It regularly covers the magazines of physical culture and vegetal food. Torre shares her experiences on her website http://www.torrewashington.com.

  • The American Carl Lewis is perhaps one of the best known vegan athletes. He is a former sprinter and jumper with incredible prizes: 10 Olympic medals and 10 medals at the world championships in athletics. He won his last Olympic title at age 35, an "advanced" age in high performance sport. He was also recognized as a "sportsman of the century" by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and "Olympian of the Century" by Sports Illustrated.
He adopted a vegan diet in 1990 and considers it a factor in his sporting success. Today, he is a real vegan activist, and even contributes to some books on the subject.

  • Marco Olmo, 67 years old, won the Ultra-Bolivia-Race Ultra-Trail. Vegetarian since its 31 years, this Italian force the respect. The Ultra Bolivia Race which took place from 19 to 24 September 2016 is a 170 km race in self-sufficiency and in 6 stages. Marco Olmo finished it in a rather bewildering time of 16 hours and 44 minutes. But that's not all ! Previously, he was Ultra Trail World Champion and won the UTMB du Mont-Blanc twice in 2006 and 2007. The mythical race of more than 167 km with a vertical drop equal to twice the ascent of Everest. The Ultra-Trail of Mont-Blanc ranks among the toughest in the world.

And a lot more..

The hottest men I know are either vegan or vegetarian, and that is the truth. Not only are they physically attractive, but, even more important, their minds are clear and sharp; they are kind individuals who respect all life forms; and they have a way with just effortlessly getting things done. You love being around them. My husband is one of them. Awesome post! Thank you so much!

You're welcome,

Protein is not only present in the animal meat - Protein and most of healthy elements are present in plants, algae and fruits. PEACE

Totally agreed, I'm a "vegetarian" but there are still some cliches on this subject.

I've recently turned vegetarian and eat lots of legumes for protein. However, I've had my ups and downs with the diet. Do you have any recipe suggestions?

Also, I want to point out 2 other bad-ass dudes who are vegan. Nate and Nick Diaz from the UFC.

I have still some my ups and down. But I will post some advices, with pleasure.
