The absurdity of life

You really want to help someone ... and you help. Your heart is breaking, but you love. You've failed at helping. Your partner abuses you. Now you need help.

Probably lifes hardest truth for me is that life is absurd and that not everyone can be helped despite your greatest efforts i.e. the best that you can do. I've learnt this truth in both my professional life as well as my personal life over many years now.

I'd love to hear your own hardest truths in the comments below ....

The hardest truth that my sister and brother are less family than my cats and 🐶. Sad facts to accept!

But that is nothing personal to you Mamma - some families are just like that. It is no reflection on you as a person :)

My hardest truth was that I couldn't face up to the fact that I was having serious mental health problems. I was afraid of showing weakness by admitting to my own failings. It wasn't until I had hit rock bottom that I realised I needed help. Thanks to the help and support of loved ones I came through all right. My lesson was that it is ok to admit that you need help and also that poeple are willing to accept you 'warts and all'.

Pride comes before a fall as they saying goes. We are all guilty of that @maninayton - we are all human together - not in silos apart from one other. We are all connected in more ways than we think we are :)

Yes, I came to realise that - although it was a hard lesson at times.

The school of hard knocks is always open ;)

That is such a thoughtful gesture. Thank you deeply @mammasitta.

You have made my Easter. Thanks again.

That's wonderful to know ! Happy Easter !

Helping people is very very hard.
There are few people who can accept help.
There are few people who know they have a problem.
This adds up to: you really really really can't help people.

The best you can do is plant seeds.
You cannot love them all better.

When you find that rare person who wants help and can accept help then it is very important to have the toolset necessary for dealing with the mental structures that need to be changed. Such as, losing weight is not about will power, and if you approach it from that end, they will usually end up with even more weight.

I think by the time you find that rare person in life like you say, you'll already have the toolkit in place to genuinely help them :)
