Sometimes Things In This World Feel Fucked And I'm Pretty Sure Steemit And The Rest Of The Internet Is To Blame!steemCreated with Sketch.

People primarily use Steemit and the internet to spend their time doing things that make them feel good.

In terms of Steemit, money always flows where the power goes, so the more Steem Power you have for example, the more you can influence the emotions of other Steemit users more easily.

But this also applies to all technology that is internet based. Internet based economies as well as brick and mortar companies have the sole purpose of pleasing people to get what they want.

In the old industrial days before the internet, feelings were based mainly around the family, how cold the factory was and what was for dinner that night. With the rise of technology a lot of the burden has been lifted from the backs of many, so people have turned to newer forms of feeling. People still need to feel good as a nature abhors a vacuum. This is when the internet came of age.

The age of the internet.

I remember first accessing it in 1996 when only telecom companies had the internet to communicate, and I was first in my family to have an email address in 1997 - 20 years ago this year.

As the late 90s and 00s gathered pace, the internet exploded, but people were no longer making decisions based on this information overload as they were still making decisions based on feelings and emotions. Suddenly the answer to everything was: "Just Google it."

Now the internet gave the people the information they really wanted, and not the information that they really needed. As you can probably guess this can lead to misinformation all over the shop. How many of us diagnose our own medical conditions daily?

Just because information is now limitless does not mean that it is of any better quality.

Just look at how bad some of the Steemit posts are. With the lack of quality information out there comes distrust. This can lead us to jaded behaviour that makes us question everything. What can we really believe? Everyone is trying to rip me off. Screw those articles on better sex. What the hell do they know anyway.

Distrust breeds confusion and anger, and this in turn can lead to disruptions in society like Trump and Brexit as ordinary people take their revenge against the tech companies and the governments who instigated it all.

The problem with technology is that it doesn't rescue us from the arms of evil, but rather taps into our base instincts that we were originally trying to get away from. How counter-intuitive technology has become.

Information is currently losing, and we are all paying the price.

So Steem! (but please tread carefully).

Because of the large amount of information, people no longer have the critical sense, they choose the ones with which they feel comfortable

Our own minds have become filters to information - just like Google :(

And that's normal. We were born into a culture, with certain values and a certain way of life and an era. They are not the same in America, Europe, Asia or Africa even though we think of a global village.

A very fair assessment. Stay filter-free @grandpere ;)

A very interesting perspective. I've never thought of the vast amounts of information quite this way but it does make sense. And I try not to self-diagnose myself anymore. Last time I looked up causes for headache I was bombarded with information on cancer, rabies, and tapeworms - all which is far more scarier (and less likely) than -- oh, you drank too much coffee and didn't get enough sleep. LOL

Good to hear from ya @merej99 - Google with caution ... now go take an aspirin for that tapeworm ;)

ROFLMAO! Dammit, I just spewed coffee all over my keyboard. hahahaaaaa

OUCH! Velvet underpants for your Philip!

The counter-intuitive Google. I like it.

You've just been sold another form of control - misinformation!

Hi @mindhunter I am glad to see you are back.....

I still see you bear thing!!! Congratulations on your increased reputation :))

Ha ha ha! Thank you I worked hard to get there and now I have total writers block!

Look out! You might turn into a SERIAL RESTEEMER!!!

Actually it's getting harder to find good quality information. Besides the ability of reading, that was enough a couple of years ago, we should also know to identify good material from crappy one!

My grandmother never strayed far from her encyclopedia and used to keep it hidden under armed guard!

Avoiding that their grandchildren's destroy it!? ;)

It's a good job @mindhunter has X-ray eyes and can read through walls and hidden compartments ;) (as well as disarm armed guards!)
