How I deal with my anxiety everyday!steemCreated with Sketch.

I would like to touch upon something that a lot of people in our generation deal with, anxiety. Though there are many types, I would like to focus on the constant worry of trying to please everyone. Especially, as young teens surrounded by social media 24/7. I feel there's a lot of expectations, more so now than there was ever. This gives a lot of people a constant worry, to be able to meet everyone's expectations.

There's a quote I love, said by Ed Sheeran, where he expresses that,

"I can't tell you the key to success. But the key to failure
is trying to please everyone."

I have noticed on social media, we tend to create an image for ourselves. Feeling the need to take hours upon hours to take a decent profile picture. Worrying about likes and the comments, and how people see you online. Where you have to put on a mask and be like everyone else. Feeling the need to go out and party, because that's what everyone is doing. Feeling the need to do what's "cool" to fit in. This concept has been on our Earth for generations. But now it has moved onto something that is constant.

Now how do I deal with this? I don't have an actual answer that will work for everyone. But in a way I kind of not think about it. I think by knowing who you are as a person, and surrounding yourself with good influences, can really bring out the best in you. By having friends and family who love you for you. The image shouldn't matter anymore. This may be hard, and even I still struggle with thinking this way. But trying to please everyone else will only hurt you more. That's why YOU have to do what you love. YOU have to do what makes you feel at ease. YOU have to do what feels right. YOU have to do what makes you well YOU.

What I am trying to say is don't do things because everyone else wants you to. Don't not do things because people will judge you for it. We all have our faults, no one is the perfect being. In the end the only person that you need to please is yourself. Because everyone. this is your life, your story. No one can define who you are. No one can tell you what you can and can't be and do not forget who you are.

I would like to finish this blog with a quote from the bible. Though not everyone is a Christian on here I would like to leave this here.

Important post that can help others who have similar struggles with anxiety. Nowadays, many people are anxious and stressed. Loved the reference to Ed Sheeran's song. I also enjoy listening to music which has a more meaningful message to express in the lyrics.
From Ed Sheeran's song, called "Eraser", a line from the song says: "I am happy on my own so here I’ll stay". Sometimes it's difficult to have everyone like or appreciate us. Sometimes we should just let our own positive view hold more weight and importance. Inner appreciation and self-confidence is important. Let positivity shine and don't let the negativity bring you down.

Ed Sheeran's Eraser Song Credited:

Thank you so much for this response. I love that song by Ed Sheeran! Though I love all his music! He has a song for just about everything. I really appreciate your input and I fully agree! @creativo

Yeah, Ed Sheeran is a talented lyricist. Really good music. Agreed.

With the rise of social media there has been an increasing amount of "information flow" which may cause anxiety. Suppose that you posted a picture or a tweet, facebook post etc. as you become aware of what might other people think there is loss of your true identity. Social media does a good job on showing the good but a terrible job at showing the bad. This imbalance of information leads users to become depressed or anxious. While in this depressed form, users don't post depressing stuff, which adds on to the problem. I think that making it okay to feel like shit without being ridiculed goes a long way. However, social media is wired in the same way as smoking. Except instead of Nicotine it is likes. Any mental disease normalized as result since "everyone has anxiety". You are correct that being yourself is good solution however like a mention most people are afraid to show themselves as their true self because it may give off a less enjoyable experience for their followers. But what do I know haha

You make a good point! I agree a lot of people are afraid to show themselves. I mean who can blame them? This world is a scary place filled with people who will try to tear you down for who you are. But as you said "it may give off a less enjoyable experience for their followers." That may be true but in the end it's not about the followers. It's about expressing yourself. If they do not like what you post then they can unfollow, and those who want to stay will simply stay. But there's also a chance it might make it more enjoyable too. Thank you for your response and I respect your opinion as well. @pornstarshourly

Exercise, stay off sugar, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco. You are going to feel way better.

Do as I say, not as I do :P

What do you mean? I though with alcohol your true self comes out haha

It weakens you, you get depressed the next day, and more vunerable to everything, including anxiety. It's common sense really.
