हमारा परम धर्म : दान ---- (अंतिम भाग – ५)

पिछली चार पोस्ट में हम यह तो जान चुके है कि दान का क्या महत्त्व है और क्यों जरुरी है ? अब थोड़ा उदाहरण से ओर समझ लेते है ।

भारतीय साहित्य में रहीम के नाम को सभी जानते हैं । वे बड़े समर्थ कवि थे । उन्होंने भक्ति साहित्य की ज्ञान-गंगा ही बहाई है । बड़े समर्थ कवि होने के साथ-ही-साथ वे बड़े कोमल ह्रदय वाले सज्जन पुरुष भी थे तथा दानी भी थे । उनके द्वार से किसी भी दिन कोई याचक खाली हाथ नहीं जाता था । मुक्त हस्त से वे याचकों को दान दिया करते थे । उनकी विशेषता यह थी कि वे बड़े ही विनम्र थे और बड़ी विनम्रतापूर्वक ही वे दान देते थे । एक दिन उनका एक मित्र उनके पास आया और कहने लगा – “आप खूब दान देते है, किसी को भी कभी आप निराश नहीं करते । हिन्दू, मुस्लिम, सिक्ख, ईसाई का कोई भेदभाव आपके मन में नहीं है, यह तो बड़ी अच्छी बात है । किन्तु एक बात मेरी समझ में नहीं आती ।”

“कौन-सी बात ?”

“यह कि आप दान देते समय अपना सिर हमेशा नीचे रखते हैं, आँख उठाकर याचक को देखते तक नहीं । ऐसा क्यों ?”

रहीम जी ने उत्तर दिया – “भाई, दान मैं कहां देता हूँ ! यह तो ईश्वर ही देता है । मैं तो केवल एक माध्यम हूँ जिसके द्वारा ईश्वर को जो कुछ, जिसे देना है वह देता रहता है ।”

“तो इसमें सिर नीचा रखने की क्या बात है ?”

“अपना सिर ऊँचा कैसे करू भाई ! मुझे लज्जा आती है । देने वाला तो ईश्वर है जबकि लोग मुझे ही दाता समझ लेते हैं । इसी से मुझे लज्जा आती है और इसी कारण से मैं अपना सिर सदा नीचा ही रखता हूँ ।”

ऐसे थे रहीम, परम दानी, यह थी उनकी विनम्र भावना ।

जैनधर्म जीवदया पर आधारित धर्म है । जैन समाज में एक-से-एक बढ़कर दानी सदैव हुए है, आज भी है, तथा आगे भी होते रहेंगे । इतने दानवीर समाज में हैं कि उनके नाम गिनना भी सम्भव नहीं है । हम तो इतना ही कहेंगे कि दानशीलता की इस उत्कृष्ट भावना को विस्तार देते चले जाइए । ऐसा करने से आपका जीवन महान से महानतम बनता चला जाएगा । अपनी शक्ति के अनुसार दान कीजिए तथा पूरी विनम्रता पूर्वक दीजिए ।

एक बार गांधीजी दक्षिण भारत के किसी शहर में पहुचें । आजादी से पहले का समय था । बाढ़ के कारण किसी स्थान पर बहुत ही विनाश हुआ था । सहस्त्रों नर-नारी निराश्रित हो गए थे । उन्हें सहायता की बहुत आवश्यकता थी । जब गांधीजी उस छोटे-से शहर के रेलवे प्लेटफार्म पर उतरे तब वहां एक वृद्धा आई । उसका शरीर जर्जर था । हाथ-पैर कापं रहे थे । शरीर पर चिपके हुए उसके चीथड़े उसकी निर्धनता की कथा स्वयं कह रहे थे ।

उस वृद्धा ने जाने कहां से एक पैसा निकालकर गांधीजी को दिया और कहा – “बेटा, मैं तो बहुत गरीब हूँ किन्तु मेरे पास यह एक पैसा है । तू यह ले ले । इससे बाढ़ से दु:खी व्यक्तियों की मदद करना ।”

यह देखकर गांधीजी तथा वहां खड़े सभी अन्य व्यक्ति हतप्रभ-से रह गए । गांधीजी की आँखों में तो आंसू ही आ गए थे । “मेरी भारतमाता ! तेरी जय हो,” कहते-कहते वे उस वृद्धा के चरण छूने लगे । किन्तु उस वृद्धा ने कांपते हाथों से गाँधी को थाम लिया ।

steemians ! उस गरीब वृद्धा का दान किसी भामाशाह, कर्ण अथवा रहीम के लक्ष-लक्ष, कोटि-कोटि मूल्य दे दान से कम नहीं था । वह एक पैसा मात्र नहीं था, वह थी एक मानव की दूसरी मानव आत्मा के प्रति अगाध दया भावना ।

मेरा आशय पूर्णरूपेण स्पष्ट है कि कभी ऐसा मत सोचिए कि आपके पास है क्या अथवा कितना, कि आप किसी को कुछ दान दें । आप तो बस, अपने मन में आप प्राणिमात्र के लिए प्रेम उत्पन्न कीजिए, दयाभाव लाइये, दान देने के लिए तत्पर रहिए । यदि आप एक कोटि का दान दे सकते हैं तो एक कोटि का दीजिए । यदि आप एक पैसा ही दे सकते हैं तो एक पैसा ही दीजिए ।

मूल बात है – दान धर्म के महत्त्व को आज भली-भांति समझ लीजिए । अपने द्वार से किसी को निराश मत जाने दीजिए तथा सदैव विनम्र रहकर दान दीजिए । मुझे विश्वास है कि ईश्वर के द्वार से आप भी कभी निराश नहीं लौटेंगे ।

Jainism is a religion based on Jeevadya. In the Jain society, one more donor has always been there, is still there, and will continue to happen even further. There are so many donators in society that it is not possible to count their names. We will only say that it will extend to this excellent sense of charity. By doing this, your life will become the greatest of the greatest. Make donations according to your power and be polite.

Once Gandhiji reached a city in South India. There was a time before independence. Due to the flood, there was very destruction at some place. Millions of men and women became destitute. They needed a lot of help. When Gandhiji landed on the small railway platform of that small town, an old man came there. His body was shabby. The hands and feet were cutting. His screws sticking to the body were telling the story of his poverty itself.

Where did the elderly take away a penny from Gandhiji and said, "Son, I am very poor but I have this money. You take this Helping the depressed people from the flood. "

Seeing this, Gandhiji and all the other people standing there were in a bad state. Gandhiji's eyes had come to tears. "My mother mother! Tell me, you are hail, "they say, they began to touch the feet of that old man. But the old man stared at Gandhi with trembling hands.
