How It is all started

I come across minimalist idea a couple months ago while I browsed through environmental videos on Youtube. It was about living with zero waste from Tedx also cheapskate series from TLC which then, lead me to bunch of video about minimalism. In the meantime, I watched numerous videos on ideas about minimalism only knowing that I have applied some of it myself, unconsciously.

I further come across a video of Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus the owner of The minimalist.com on Tedx which explains about how it feels good to have less material but more experience. Since then, I dive myself into minimalism but just these days, I have time to reflect and commit into that ways of living.
I began by reflecting by looking at my flat and how I have more things just for someone who’s currently living alone. As an example, I have 3 ice tea glasses and four plates even I barely have any visitors. Say no more about clothes, I have lots of it but I only wear 4 pairs in a week. It’s always problematic that I see my flat being so cluttered and I am too overwhelmed to clean it. It also contributes in giving me hard time finding necessary items like my room lock.

What is Minimalism to me and how we can benefit from that

Minimalism doesn’t mean that you should have 100 things or 50 things (red: limited items). Rather have things that you actually need not wants. When I reflected to myself and my room, I realize that I often spend my money on least important items. I also realize of how much money I burn, buying things I actually have which has the same function. Like, a cute coffee mug, So far I have two of them while in fact I mostly use one.

Another aspect of me being a girl means that, a beauty product seems to be necessity in a daily basis. For example, my peers spent about 50$ alone on lipstick and beauty products within only month. On the other hand, I barely use beauty products because I simply don’t have a time and I prefer to do it all naturally, instead going chemical. I understand that each of us has different priority, but looking at that much of money goes to make up, I can easily book a round trip flight ticket to a foreign soil, with all crazy experience included.

Furthermore, Minimalist teaches me how to appreciate and value things I own. It also optimizes a function of a thing instead of buying different items for the same purpose. If you plan on saving up, go try implementing minimalism and resell things that still have value and donate some that don’t. Not only minimalism saves your wallet, it is also good for your mind, knowing you can distribute time focusing on other priorities. With less thing, come less responsibilities.

My Experience on cluttering and How I slowly get rid of it

I, myself have experienced that when I have more clothes to wear, that means I have more clothes to wash. It also aligned to time management, given that lately I think 24 hours is never enough for me. I want to do so many things all at once; running different projects, different interest, learning about things, so indeed 24 hours is never enough. And allocating two hour just for a laundry, that is truly a nightmare.I envisioned myself to be more focused on projects I truly care, and start working on my books again which I honestly buried it down somewhere. So each minute now, really counts.

It is difficult to start especially if you have certain memories to things, but as of my case, all things I owned are practical and I have no emotional attachment. However, there are several special items which I normally use in daily basis that means the world to me. I don’t plan to get rid of them, so I’d just store it somewhere safe. Also, I have began on donating my clothes to my college charity projects and so far, I have get rid a quarter of my old clothing. This is just a simple steps I've started and I am looking forward to do more.

The way I see it, is that, this consumerism lifestyle, has contribute in giving us stress without us even knowing. We chase money to buy things on advertisement but we care less about the value which it’ll give. Living minimalist means to also contribute to the better of environment. Less thing, less waste. And less is now.

Unclutter your life, unclutter your mind.
Be happy and Be free💓

Hmm..I've tried the minimalistic approach to my life and had to cut it by 50%. What I kept is not really buying almost anything I don't need...but I kinda always was that way :) I need a computer and a gym (dojo) and Im happy :D no stupid materialistic things....

Other part was trying to get rid of stuff I have..Every day one thing...I ended on the day 8 as I wasnt able to throw anythong away :D

Haha 2 hour laundry u must be crazy! :D

I had bazzilion of clothes before now it shrinks to only 50 pieces. Planning to do it more !

Sounds wonderful to me, my home is filled with stuff... And I don't use many of them. Sounds liberating to get things out and get a more uncluttered home, thanks for the inspiration.

@kerlund74 I hope you know where to startand have a more uncluttered home <3 have a great day. Believe me, it'll be the best decision you've ever made :)
cheers and have a great day

I am constantly removing clutter and things that I just don't need, haven't looked at, or that serves no purpose at all in my daily/monthly life or routine. I did a big 'reset' years ago and chucked out a lot of stuff that I'd been dragging around with me for years. I either sell, give to charity shops or if it's beyond repair bin it. If I buy something to replace something I get rid of the old piece, rather than have it taking up space. Apart from anything else it also benefits the mind to remove clutter because a lot of thought and therefore energy is spent thinking about this stuff.

minimalism is easy.
it's called poverty
works every time.

:p yeah it appears like poverty and easy to do. very easy
