Community Service day 7 - Detached
There's nothing worth saying at this point. The morale has been lowering and the team started to get sick of this place. It is sad because we haven't started our projects. We have about 31 projects and it has to be done within a month. How are they going to be done? we have no idea. The villagers, though some of them are welcoming, we still feel the pressure that we're not mingling enough with them. I hope they can understand that these days people are different from the past. We are more busy, more exclusive, more private and we have our own circle of friendship.
We know this is not a vacation. We are stationed in a random place in hope the villagers are going to accept 7 strangers who will try to help them do stuff in their village. If only there weren't much pressure, we'd be fine. We won't overthink of our reaction and try our best to mingle with the locals.
I personally have been very detached from the past week from my own life and self. I no longer have time to sit down and organize my day. Today, I am planning to create a routine and a schedule in order to achieve a balance. I should stop comparing this place to my experiences in Bali or anywhere else. That is because, I will ended up being disappointed because in the end, they would still badmouth us for our inability to socialize, just like what they did with the previous unit stationed in this place.
What about others? from my observation, their morale has been lowering and started to be more detached with the surroundings. We need more motivation to push through and set a routine and schedule so we won't be too burn out. That's probably my task for the day. I think that's all I can report today. Signing off...
