Walk to the Atwater Market
Tuesday finally came and we went to pick a pumpkin from the Atwater market.
No, we didn't get this gianourmous pumpkin.
This one was certainly one of the main attractions in the market, as everyone was in awe at its sight.
Usually there are a lot of people in here, especially during warmer days.
It's a nice spot to hang out in the summer. There, right next to the Lachine Canal, you can have an ice cream or a drink, play chess or listen to some artists performing live in the evenings.
Today it seemed that the low temperatures kept everyone inside. The market looked deserted.
Except for less than a dozen farmers, there were no other people which was great for us as we had more space for the kids to run around and play.
They all loved the scavenger's hunt. The Halloween decorations in the market and the painted pumpkins kept them entertained.
Here are some of the painted ones we saw in there:
There was a wide selection of pumpkins to chose from.
Some of these pumpkins were new to me.
They came in different colors, shapes and sizes.
It was not easy to chose one for tomorrow's decorating parent-child activity.
I loved the look of these ones. I have been told that they are very sweet.
I had to get two and try them on. Maybe I'll use some of them for the Halloween muffin treats.
My son and his bestie wanted to take this big one home. They had to settle for a medium size one each instead of this giant.
On the way back to the kindergarten, kids got some delicious apples and maple syrup treats from the market.
None of them complained about the cold, they all had a great time outdoors.
Now they're all anxious about tomorrow when they will decorate their pumpkins and later on go trick or treat.

Beautiful photos, @lymepoet! Lovely market! And those Halloween Skeletons are so damn cool! :-D
Hahahah, they looked cool having a date!
The halloween festivities are upon us, looks like a great market for pumpkins.
Usually there are a lot more farmers in there until mid November. This year were only a few.

What a cool market, wow that is a huge Pumpkin and I love those painted ones
The painted ones inspired the kids to decorate their ones.
Love all of these gourds and pumpkins...except the giant one, not sure how I feel about that one. A bit over the top right? lol What a fun market for the fall season. I bet you were happy you were able to have it all to yourself! :)
I did enjoy going there. Lots of fun for kids and parents ;0)
Love the photo of the giant pumpkin - I was just reading about this pumpkin regatta in Portland where people carve out these big ones and then paddle them like a boat to race down the river! It cracked me up. :)
I have seen a pumpkin regatta in here a few years ago. It was lots a fun and it even had a pumpkin pie competition.
Hey @lymepoet my favourite are the elongated pale one which are probably butternut pumpkins! They make delicious soup and you can even cut them in half and bake them plain. Then eat them straight out of the oven! Yum!
The butternut squash are yummy when roasted. ;0)

Oh my goodness, those painted cartoon pumpkins are incredible. 😊 I'm glad you and your family had such a great time at the market. I love checking out little fairs and farmers' markets whenever I can.
Thank you! Farmer's markets are always a nice place to take the kids. Some even have some small animals which makes them even more appealing to the kids.
