At Breakfast With Qiqi and Noki...in the Garden of Eden

in #life7 years ago

Yesterday I loaded up my backpack in a truck and rode away from the Garden of Eden.

My departure was bittersweet. I've been saying I'm going to leave for months. Although I am excited to be following a dream that's more than ten years old it was a seriously difficult shift as I love my GoE family and my life there dearly.

One of my favorite things about living in the Garden of Eden is the "Egg Sesh"es with our little girls, Qiqi and Noki.

Almost three years ago these girls learned pretty quickly that anything on my plate is gonna be good.

I just have a knack for good flavor so whatever I'm eating is likely yummy...
and the girls know this.

Since I seriously enjoy fried eggs and toast everyday I quickly learned that at the Garden of Eden two eggs on my plate is not nearly enough.

These little sweeties love eggs and toast as much as I do...and their appetites are comparable.

Everyday and sometimes twice we have our beloved "egg sesh". At least four and up to, sometimes seven eggs go on the plate with four to six pieces of hot buttered toast.

No more Egg Seshes. It's all over.

Late yesterday afternoon I took in tear-filled hugs from not only Qiqi and Noki but the whole community at the property line gates.

Part of me thinks I'm stupid for leaving but the other part of me believes I am stupid for not simply accepting the truth about myself...

...if I don't do this I will always wonder. The truth is, I am just compelled to explore, to follow my heart.

Currently, I am staying with a friend in Dallas, Texas, USA while I manage a few minor details then

in a few days I'll catch the train and I'll be off.

Getting to the US and Texas border will take a couple days, maybe more.

Once I cross into Mexico I'll take several days getting into Guatemala where there's a position waiting for me at Trama Textiles, working with Maya women weavers.

However, I'm willing to ditch all my plans if something better comes up around the corner. Going south is the only true goal. Anything else I'm just making up as I go.

Ohhhhhh---I missed this post!! The egg-seshes carry on, without @loveon!! Of course the girls will likely never enjoy a shared egg sesh as much as they enjoyed it with you. You became a staple in their true enjoyment of food. Grateful that you have set the standards high for their palates and that their love for you has made a grand difference in your world as well.
