Animal Photography

in #life6 years ago (edited)

I thought I would start off with my Wildlife photography, choosing the King of the animals, The Lion. I took these shots at Mabalingwe, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

They are born as a tiny little cub, then grow up to young teenager full of energy, finally they become an adult lion. A Lions life cycle is not very complicated. By the age of three male lions can leave their prides and create a new one. When a female lion is four years old, they can have up to six baby cubs.

Adult lions reach an age between 3 and 8 years old. They consume a wide variety of prey, from wildebeest, impala, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and wild hogs to sometimes rhinos and hippos. They will also feed on smaller animals such as hares, birds and reptiles. Lions are also known to attack elephants when food is hard to come by. the only animal that attacks a lion is a Hyena, especially when it come to food. Over a century ago there were 200.000 wild Lions in Africa, today there about 20.000, they are extinct in 26 countries.
So hopefully we will look after our heritage and look after our wildlife so the next generation don't lose out.

Amazing shots! Isn't it scary to get that close to the "king of the jungle"?

Take care, @soul-thru-da-ink

There was a fence between us, but still close enough.
