THERE IS A CRACK IN EVERYTHING

The sun has just broken through the clouds- after a seemingly endless several days of rain and dreariness.. The sun shines with all the promise of the colors that suddenly pop, when its rays hit them at just the right angle.  It shines with the promise of a brighter day...even if nothing in the daily circumstance has changed.

I have come to realize that when  circumstances don't change, we have to make  internal shifts in ourselves. This translates into making  conscious decisions to change the way we see or perceive things and events; to adjusting or readjusting expectations... not always easy to do... but well worth it if  seeing our world through a different lens helps our orientation to life.

 More than once, I have heard the expression said: "we can plan plans, but not outcomes";  this really resonates with me. A simple wisdom, but a complicated truth. The sooner we learn the art and humility of  acceptance, the easier our lives become. If we can let go of the noise in our heads of disappointment, frustration and anger ( the toxic emotions that drain energy), then we have emotional space to let the good stuff in. 

 There is a line in the Leonard Cohen song "Anthem", which cycles through my consciousness very often: "there is a crack, a crack in everything... that's how the light gets in"...

 Sometimes, instead of seeing the "crack", we need to see the "light"!
