The eyes are the mirror of the soul.
You can learn a lot about a person if you read through the eyes. But unfortunately, not everyone can read in the eyes. People have learned to hide their true feelings.

I respectfully disagree "people have learned to hide their true feelings" ....the eyes speak very loudly and very hard to hide feelings. Remember the saying " body language does not lie" so look very closely to the body and not so much what they say.
The world changes, people change. Adapt to a cruel life become stale, and now often can be mistaken in people.
Eyes can explain more than 75%...
