Sunday thoughts on Saturday: Graduation inspiration and Bible Study notes
Sunday my baby sisi graduated from college and the pastor from her local church gave a word.
I must have been daydreaming because I completely forgot to take notes. One of the last points he made was about moving mountains. He tied it together to his overall message of being a light in the world.
What mountain have you been called to move?
The Bible says, you will tell the mountain to move and it will move. Only move with the power of the living God. There is no secret or mystery what God can do through you. Let there be light wherever these graduates move.
I couldn't leave you with just that short, generic, but loveling note. So, I will type up my notes from Wednesday bible study.
Part 1: Romans 8:16 explains we are children of God.
- Co-Heirs of the world like Christ.
- Hebrews 1:2; How could Jesus, through Jesus all things were created, also heir the world?
Because we need an heir in order to inherit. In order to have a true first born and in order for us to become heirs we needed Jesus.
Verse 3.
There is no way to God without Jesus. For example, no one can survive on the Sun and no one can get very close. However, every day we see the sun's rays. Starting into the rays can actually blind us, but we know the sun via the rays.
Verse 4+5
Why do people compare God to angles? Often we better understand concepts by comparing it to something we are familiar with. All the people knew where angels. It was the best they could to describe God. Like angels, like light, like God and Jesus.
- Galatians 1:8
- Colossians 2:18
The downside to this comparison is stated in the two verses above. There is a tendency for people to start worshiping angels. The verse is intended to prove how much greater God/Jesus is to angels in verse 4+5 of Romans.
Part 2: Romans 1:16
Collectively angels are referred to as sons of God, but only Jesus is directly called Son of God. Lowercase son, as in a group of people and Son as the only one.
There is this idea that the devil or evil is opposite of God as if there is anyone or thing that can compare to God. The devil is equal to an angel because he was one. He is opposite of an angel that didn't sin because that is what he did.
We are heirs with Jesus. We are above the angels.
Verse 8
When God refers to Jesus he calls him God.
Verse 9
Jesus is not a prophet, he is not an angel, and he is not anything but God. The Trinity is tricky to explain as you can see because there isn't anything like it.
God is speaking in authority, but Jesus is the word of God. Therefore, everything God has done is through Jesus by the Holy Spirit. The Trinity, like us, is mind body and spirit. Whole and complete, connected and all in one.
Be blessed friends!
Graduation is such a beautiful feeling only till you realize you'll be going to a world where your boss cares more about the profits more than you .
