Bringing families together is the mission of our church.

As you know words without faith or action is meaningless. Part of taking action is hosting our annual back to school event. Check out our website HERE. Our church is located in an area that has many needs one of which is a need for supplies for their children. The last three years we have filled backpacks for children and this year we will do it again.

Our theme is “Opening Doors, One Key at a time."

Our focus this year is on foster children. Our prayers, our efforts, and our focus this year is on them. We are hosting a block party and handing out backpacks filled with school supplies. Our goal for the event is to raise was $10,000 US dollars. Thankfully, a very generous donor cut our cost in half.

The event occurs at the end of July 28th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 96 Days from today. We have most of the food, music, and jump house already donated. Now it is time to raise funds for the actual backpacks and extra supplies. Requesting help from @youarehope to sponsor our event!

Planning, praying, and preparing.

Planning

We are still in the planning phase of the event. We finalized the permit and location yesterday. We still need funds for BSO, t-shirts, backpacks, tents, water, and grilling materials, etc. As mentioned in my back to school fundraiser post every $20 US dollars raised fills two backpacks!

Praying

We have reached out to a few others for support and have not had the same response in years past. Our community has at least ten to twelve leaders reaching out daily to family and friends for support. We have faith the funds will come. Our goal is to give out 300 to 500 backpacks.

Preparing

$5,000 is what we need to make this event occur and give these foster children school supplies, fun, and hope for a better tomorrow. We have a start volunteer list and will organize more before the event. We are slowly, but surely piecing everything together. Your support will inspire children in South Florida. Who knows, maybe they will inspire others too.

Thank you for your consideration. :)

This is a very generous initiative.
I grew up in the foster system and know how meaningful something like this could be.
Please take a moment and DM me on discord every time your post earnings will go towards this event, and I will gladly share my few cents every single time.
Also, I'll see what I can spare in June to donate directly toward the fund.
Plenty of grilled leftovers to take home is highly recommended!

My previous post has a go fund me link and the link to our church donation page. Feel free to send pennies that way too :)

Hey! Bless you for doing this! I will make sure @sircork sees this, but I want to make you aware of the situation he is in, as far as I know. There are people in Venezuela trying to get basic needs met for entire communities, and now this plea for help for a desperate island: https://steemit.com/youarehope/@takeru255/epidemy-of-blastocytis-hominis-in-la-isla-de-coche-because-of-water-supplies-metronidazol-is-needed
There is very little coming in to YouAreHOPE by comparison to the requests for help, so please understand if YAH cannot chip in on this. UV and resteemed for you anyway!

I understand, thank you for helping nonetheless.

Seen, and she's right, we're currently contributing toward rebuilding crumbling school roofs and in another place, helping with providing medicine and malaria prevention and health treatment for entire villages. Meanwhile, many smaller efforts to give food to the desperately hungry continue, and we have to do it on the equivalent of pennies from minnows, since other things are a better investment for whales than charity work seems to be.

I used to live near deerfield beach for about a decade, around ten or fifteen miles south of it. There is some tough poverty up around there I will grant you, but these kids remain 100X better off than what we are trying to manage around the world with extremely limited resources.

Good luck with your mission. $5000 usd is about what we've received and spent touching thousands of lives on several continents across a dozen countries over 6 months. I can't even imagine raising that in one round here.

As you requested, I wrote a post laying out our plan and various ways to support. You told me my project would likely receive some sort of support, but to keep in mind other projects with more server need would likely receive more support. To my understanding requesting funds had to be made via a post. There are various levels to support, so any support would be great.

nice activities, good luck and lots of help, thanks for sharing, @kubbyelizabeth.
