The Wind Almost Uprooted My Avocado Tree

We had a very heavy rainfall which had loads of wind blowing as the rain was falling last night. You could hear it moving objects and slamming them on the ground, you could hear the leaves on the ground making sweeping noises and you could hear gates shaking and the locks to the gate banging as if someone was trying to break them and get access into your property.

The weather was very cozy and this made drifting off to dreamland very easy. I in fact didn’t know what was happening until it was morning time. I must have enjoyed my sleep so much that the noises outside did not bother me one bit. I went for my morning walk and by the time I came back I discovered that the avocado pear tree in my compound was lying on the ground and the roots were almost pulled off the ground.

I swung into action by getting a string and tied it to the main branch of the Avocado pear which is at the center, next pulled it up and then tied the other end to the lower area of the Pawpaw tree nearby. I made gave some space where I tied them so that the trees won’t be affected by any future growth.

The next thing I did was to pour more soil on the base of the tree to make it firm. The soil was a mix of rabbit dung and soil so it was loaded with enough nutrients for the tree.

I am very happy to say that the tree is secured now, I hope the next set of rains fall without the type of winds we experienced yesterday. That spot used to be the place where the mango tree stood but we cut it down because it grew so big that it became a treat to the surrounding buildings. Hopefully I hope that the avocado pear won’t grow so large.
