Plants Mimicking Another For Survival

in #life5 years ago

It is not a new thing to see animals mimicking nature for protection or as a camouflage to attack unsuspecting prey. Soldiers adopt these methods when they want to take the enemy by surprise. Now plants, well that is a whole new ball game to me.

You see, I have this portion of land where I planted ginger the soil is so packed with a lot of composite manure gotten from rabbit dung, dead leaves and soil. This is making a lot of unwanted grasses grow in that same portion of land so I have been doing a lot of weeding to make sure the ginger gets as much space and nutrient to survive. The ginger plants finally germinated and are growing very well so I felt they were doing pretty good for themselves.

Above is the normal pepper I thought looks like and below is the imitation pepper, it had something that looks like a growing pepper that has not matured yet, but from what I was told it will remain that way as the leaves continue to cover the whole area.

I noticed a plant that looks like a type of long pepper we have locally, I knew I didn’t plant them but I also knew they may probably have been thrown there because we usually throw used water for washing kitchen stuff like vegetables, tomatoes and pepper, yes that is it, washed pepper water. That was why I thought the plant was pepper.

I don’t mind plants co-existing, there are waterleaves growing in the same area and I don’t remove them because we eat them for one and they don’t try to cover the whole area and suffocate other plants. Yeah, I did a Google image search and found out they are called cover plants.

Wow, thankfully you discovered the imitation plants before they took over the garden and killed the plants you wanted to grow.

I'm telling you, I've been waiting for the pepper I thought, lol, to get reaped but it just remained the same size but the leaves kept spreading.

Lol, you should do an autopsy on the pepper imposter!
