Tips For Success: Etsy!
Etsy can be a fantastic platform to make money; It's the biggest handmade marketplaces online. With the low fee's it can be a great source of income. You don't have to compete with as many people Because merchandise sellers are forced to sell on Ebay and Amazon. Giving you freedom to your handmade product. The great thing about Etsy is you can sell your digital downloads too! I do this with coloring book pages; You can probably do it with your photography if that's your thing!
mock ups can be a great way to promote your products, If you look at my Etsy store, You'll see some of the homemade mock ups I've made.
Cons:
0.20 fee
I have mixed feelings about this fee. It adds up quickly. But everytime you list an item you have to pay 0.20!? What if it doesn't sell!?
Although the good thing about this fee is it keeps trolls at bay, So it helps people with real listings post, rather than people with junk.
Success Tips
- Your username is also your shop name, Choose wisely and try to make it relate to your niche.
My shop's name is "Kaylin Art Shop" I sell coloring pages!
I could have chosen something a little bit more, Coloring related. But Kaylin Art seemed short and easy to remember. So I stuck with it.
To be fair, I haven't had time to grow my store yet, But I've been learning about what it takes to be successful so I"m passing this info to you :)
Learn to Spy on your competition!
Look at what your competition is doing! Do they have more professional looking listings? Maybe you'll want to spend more time making your listings look nice.
- Maybe the way they present the item is better, Spy on your competition, This will give you an advantage with getting more sales.
Expand your listings !
When you get 120 listings on the site, Your sales will start growing faster. This is about 24.00 worth of listings fees, Keep in mind!
- Try to stay in the same category; It's like entering a drawing, When you put all your tickets in one bucket, You have a bigger chance to win that item, Then if you were to do one per bucket.
Plus people who buy one of your things, May be more likely to buy another, Especially if it's related to the same niche.
Example: It's safe to say, That someone who buys a coloring page from me, Enjoys coloring. So they may buy my other coloring pages, Even though they may be a different theme.
You also want to expand your listings in the description, Try and use keywords so you will land on the front page when someone searches for what you are selling, That is also why it's important to use proper keywords in the keyword box.
Learn to adapt
I'm not saying everytime something is "in" you should change your whole business. But if the color yellow is popular right now, And you make purses. Try to throw some yellow in there. If a certain style of purse is popular, Maybe try making a few of them. The market will have different demands at different time and it's important to keep that in mind as your business continues to grow.
Even Though Etsy is super popular. We can still be successful if we put time and effort into it! Its a great way to diversify your income. Or make income from an extra hobby.
Have you though about using the Steemit PeerHub now?
I put a couple items on it :) Once it grows in popularity I'll probably forward hundreds of items over :)
Best of luck with PeerHub!
