In this blog post, I'm going to talk about some of the things I learned while reading this book. While adding some of my own comentary.

We often see a year as 52 weeks. Each year, we plan our new year's resolutions. And expect to get them done in 52 weeks. Which oddly at the end of the year many of us haven't accomplished the bulk of the things we wanted to do.

  • Work in 12-week segments. You'll get more done in less time.

If we instead have our goals structured around 12 weeks, We can get more done. That's like 4.33 years in one year!

We Lack Consistent Execution

52 weeks gives us a lot of room for procrastination. It's too easy not to do the things we've set out to do. Because there is plenty of time for us to those things.
Which is a "Breeding ground for Complanceny."

  • If you don't feel the urgency, You don't act with urgency.

Be Realistic

What do you want to achieve in the next three years? It's important to write all this stuff down, So you can plan for what you want to do in the next 12 weeks.
You need to be detailed in what you want to accomplish.

  • Write it down, so you are more likely to execute it.
  • Get Help! Often success is a result of getting help from others.
  • Measure: If you complete at least 85% of your goal. You are more likely to achieve your 12-week goal.
This year is only 12 weeks! Make it count!

Embrace Accountability

And take ownership of your success.

  • Get rid of that victim mindset! You can truly do anything you set your mind to.
  • You Can't control your circumstances.
  • Failure is a form of feedback.

I loved this book!

And I hope to try out the 12 week year once I get back from my vacation.
It's so easy to put off our larger goals when we have so many smaller urgencies in our daily life that make it difficult to take action.

Writing things down helps a lot. Previously I have used a bit of cardboard with tasks written on it like write more on my novel, do game development etc and had it sit in front of me at the computer, helping to imprint it on my mind and get things done.

You are right about the shortening time to make you more persistent and need to work harder for it.

Nice review and commentary. Also love the illustration. Love seeing a post that shows lots of effort.

Had not heard of this book before, but it sounds interesting. I'm thinking (from a personal perspective) that it would work well for someone with ADHD-ish tendencies like me... it's hard for me to stay interested in something over a longer time, but keeping up with it on a shorter term plan sounds more viable.

Appreciate the share!

That's great idea 12 week = 1 year. It's a better idea for good student. For this book link https://imgur.com/dPewmwU Thanks @kaylinart
