I have had a discussion about this with some friends, including one from the LGBT life.
We all agreed that parents should be able to use the "my roof-my rules" way of raising. As per Ontario law, if a 16 year old wants to make a lifestyle change for any reason; they can move out and do so under their own roof.
Just like a person does not have to accept or support someone else's decision, same with the parent's right with their children.
However, with this new Bill-89 crap, parents must be clear about why they will not allow their child to do such things and make sure the child understands that when they are old enough (16 in Ontario) that they may then make their own decisions in their own place.
This may mean that this 16 years old (in Ontario) will be completing high school, working a job, and paying for rent and food. Welcome to adult life; every choice you make has a consequence for better or for worse.
