Exactly What I Wanted To Say

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Yeah, sure - I powered down 30 Steem. Who knows, I might put all of that back into SP at some point. Otherwise, riding the wave. Might pull out more. May put everything I have into SP. Might change my delegation list. Who knows. Who cares? 30 Steem is nothing for someone. It’s everything to someone else. I claim it for myself sometimes.

True, Steem Power is the way the community prospers, that’s why I make sure I have it. I love having a vote that is 3 cents (above the dust threshold). That vote means nothing to some people, and absolutely everything to someone else - someone interested in the applications of blockchain for example, who made their first dollar without investing a cent; or someone in a place in the world where the dollar dwarfs their native currency. This is an incredible opportunity for all of us, to help ourselves and others be involved and stay afloat.

I am a poor human being. I do stuff and make stuff. I live in America. Arguably, I do well for myself, and am grateful for what I have. I want other people to have what they need. I am here for the Steemit community, and am willing to share most of what I have with you all.

However, I want what’s in it for me too! You know that, and I know you want that for yourself too! So here’s the beautiful part of Steem: I can power down. And that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to support this community. That doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in this community. I’m not even siphoning money out of this system right now. However, if we blow the fuck up (again), I want some liquidity.

I might be powering down, but I’m here to stay... And if my 100% vote falls below $0.03, you know that I’ll be sure to shift some funds around. This position is based largely on a 500 SP donation from a family member, and if things change I will re-distribute. I use my delegation to benefit some of the best people here to the best of my knowledge, you can check my pie charts if you’d like. My influence here matters to me, and I want you, reader, to know that.

Remember that people that ‘power down’ aren’t always selfish, they are often desparate...

Its possibly the worst time to power down and sell your STEEM for fiat, but if you need it then life I suppose.

Your vote and the dust threshold is only for comments. If you vote a post then the cumulative total will almost always be over the dust threshold.

It may not be worth you voting up comments if you no longer have that $0.03, but you could add it to someone else's if you really want to give something back to the author.

I’m not selling at this time haha, only increasing my liquidity to be prepared for a pump should it happen :) I am hurting, but not so bad that I need to sell Steem at 80c. And yeah, my mention of the dust threshold was in reference to comments. Thanks for stopping by @slobberchops, much appreciated!
