We all come into this world alone,

yet we find company in the presence of familiar faces as well as those of strangers.

Family

Familial ties are something which are already created.

We strengthen them, nurture them and grow with them.

We are related to each other by blood.

Family is like music, some high notes, some low notes, but always a beautiful song

Friends

Then, we come across other people in our life - we meet individuals possessing traits and thoughts unlike us or we find people with similar mindsets.

We start bonding with them.

We find commonalities in our thinking.

We embrace the differences.

We start creating magnificent dreams and start sharing exciting memories.

Friends are the family we choose for ourself

Which is more important - Family or Friends - is a question that never needs to be answered!

But how important they are is something that should be acknowledged.

That is something we often forget, well at least I do.

We often take the people closest to us for granted, their love for us and our love for them is what mutually powers us in the cycle of life.

Yet, we normally don't say it out loud as to how much more value their mere presence adds to our lives.

I feel I wouldn't have achieved whatever I have, or been at this stage in my life without the contribution of each and every individual who has entered my life and left an indelible stamp on it.

There are many people we encounter in our lives, yet the truest and the most valuable people in our lives are those who stand by us in our best times as well as when we are going through something tough.

They stay by our side not for any reason, but their warmth, compassion and love enriches our lives.

They are like the pillars that are not necessarily always talked about, yet they lay the foundation to our very existence.

Are They Special?

Yes, I feel they certainly are.

But do we need to go say 'Thank You' to them a hundred times.

No.

However I recently realized that a 5 minute phone call with an old friend, or sitting and having a short chat with a family member we've lost touch with can certainly make a whole lot of difference.

Not all people are alike, we have our differences, we have our uniqueness.

We act differently, we behave according to our individual minds.

But to be human is to be humane, to be social.

It varies in magnitude and in scale.

Some are optimists, some are pessimists, some share their feelings, some hide them.

Yet in most cases, the presence of family and friends has a distinct and positive impact in our lives.

I've been blessed with wonderful people who I'm privileged to call family and friends, and I would like to say 'Thank You' to them.

They are like a support system, guiding me and encouraging me while I navigate the maze of life.
