Do not generalize...

When we speak of generalization, we refer to a process or a tool through which we establish a conclusion of a universal nature based on an observation or particular observations.

Starting from this, we often use this process to refer to groups of people, groups, nationalities, among others, to encompass them and give a particular characteristic that defines them.

This post inspired me to write a situation that I saw recently, in Steemit, but unfortunately I can see in everyday life. Without further introduction, I comment ...

Doing little I read a post from the user @ steem.fotos in which he suspended his contest for some accusations from another user (which is not worth mentioning), and at the end of everything this, what most caught my attention is that this user in question, looking for a way to generalize made allusive comments that "Venezuelans are cheaters" ...

This really bothers me **, because in my life everything I have, including the studies I have done, has been with great effort, without cheating anyone.

Around this situation, I want to highlight the following:

  • We must assess the people who hold contests in this or other networks, because they are looking for ways to favor some lucky people, with the money that each person has difficulty getting, that is, they are giving away or only their money but the time that has been invested to get it, and what it costs to carry it out, since make any post, takes time, as we all know, the selection of the winner or winners, answer each participant, etc. These are things that should be considered, and perhaps those who have not organized a contest, completely unaware of the freedom to rant lightly.

That was something I wanted to clarify in relation to the competitions, well, on the subject of generalizations, there is often a very bad use of that resource, especially if it is in a derogatory way.

  • Made another generalization, the user in question, to criticize the creator of the contest (of Argentine origin, residency in Europe, as explained later), commented that he could not be Argentine because they do not write well, that shows a high degree of ignorance (Of course).
Could it be that he believed that Argentines should start each sentence with a che ...?

*Other examples in which it is evident that generalizing is not always good and / or steely:
  • Do not think that all Germans are bad people because Hittler was.
  • Do not believe that all Japanese or Chinese are intellectually gifted, or that everyone knows martial arts because there are many movies about them.
  • Do not think that our aborigines (Indians) are gross because they do not know how to use a computer.
  • Do not think that all women are looking for a man to support them, there is an immense majority seeking their place in this society, preparing, studying, working hard.
  • All wealthy people are vain and selfish ... Not always, does not come close to reality, in addition, being humble is not a guarantee of not being able to have those characteristics.
  • All Arabs are terrorists .. I have a daily relationship with people with people of Arab nationality, and I can attest that this is not true.
To conclude this publication I leave you these questions and if you like you could respond in the comments or leave some feedback:

Have you ever fallen into generalizations?

Do you think it is necessary to rethink at the time of issuing a comment and generalize?

@josevas217 has set 0.150 SBD bounty on this post! logo_for-light-bg_1000.png
What is a bounty exactly?

A bounty is money sent to a post to be distributed to the users commenting on it. It provides a way to reward users directly and works in addition to the steem/sbd they receive from the blockchain. It works independently of SteemPower.

You create a bounty by sending any amount of sbd/steem to @steem-bounty together with a post-url in the memo.

How can I earn a bounty Users are then competing for the bounty by writing their answers to the post in comments that will achieve upvotes from the community and especially the bounty creator. The money of the bounty gets distributed to all top level comments of the post at the same time when the post is paid out (7 Days after it was written). How much everyone gets depends on the votes the comments received. The sender of the bounties votes are weighted higher so that she decideds where 80% of the bounty money goes and all other votes determine the rest.

@steem-bounty does all of this for you automatically. You can use this service to automatically pay out a challenge, ask a hard question or simply to reward the people that interact with you.

Read more about how it works, even in different languages here.

MYTHOLOGY GIF.gif

You are correct. Generalising and criticising others just because they belong to same caste, region etc. is definitely not correct. Every society has good and bad people. It doesn't mean that all people in their become bad.
Thanks for writing such content for the community here.
