The special guest for this date is the baked turkey, the traditional dinner obliges to use the products of the native peoples, it is so traditional the consumption of turkeys that at some point have been called the day Turkey Day, turkey day, turkey It is usually accompanied with a blueberry sauce, mashed potatoes or green beans, from apples to pies or pumpkin pie, the drink can be based on apple, wine and champagne.
It commemorates the first supper of brotherhood and the union of the native peoples with the colonizers in North America.
The Thanksgiving dinner is very similar to the good night dinner of my Argentine country.

The truth is that the chronicle of Thanksgiving implied endless deaths of native Indians, by resisting the care of their lands before the invading colonies.
Susan Bates recounts accurately in the video "Lest We Forget: The Truth About Thanksgiving" What happens on the fourth Thursday of November of each year in the United States.

The video basically comments on the calvary of Native Americans originating in Europe with the arrival of Europeans, many of the natives were captured and taken to England to be sold as slaves.
This in benefit helped in the negotiation of the natives with the settlers through an Indian called Tisquantum who was able to communicate and to arrive at a treaty of peace with the settlers.
The colonizers learned to sin and sow with the help of the natives, they celebrated with a great feast the successful result of the first planting.
This soon arrived in the ears of the English, decided to visit and settle in these fertile lands, before the resistance of the original peoples took place the great massacre, at the end of the massacre they celebrated with a dinner giving thanks for the conquered.

Abraham Lincoln signed a decree stating that the fourth Thursday of November of each year A national holiday day, to commemorate the victims of the bloody conquest.

good article except the first American Thanksgiving in 1621 came well after the 1604 Thanksgiving celebration held in Quebec when the first settlers celebrated with the Indians. The first thanksgiving celebration was held in Newfoundland in May 1578 by the people on the Frobisher expedition.

The holiday is a uniquely North American celebration.

Excellent return lord @shadowspub, this was a small homeage that I wanted to give to all the people who are commemorating the day of Thanksgiving.
From Argentina and the truth I did not want to go a long way in history, as I am not from North America, I do not know anything about customs I was afraid to offend someone with my post.
I appreciate the information, thank you for visiting and commenting on my post many thanks

Never be afraid to offend with the facts :) it was a nice post. Many do think that the first North American Thanksgiving was the American one because it gets more press.. so it was an easy error to make. Marketing works LOL

Thank you very much for your advices lady @shadowspub, I appreciate your valuable time in visiting, commenting and supporting my work

thanks for the history lesson, I always thought it was the Pilgrim Fathers celebration of the first years crops grown - hadn't know ( not American, British) that is was also the celebration of the massacre of the native Indians and claiming their land. Not taught in British school as part of our history...

The truth I am Argentine, today I wanted to make a small homage to all the people who are celebrating the day of graces.
I started to study a little to do the post and like you. I learned another part of History.
