Good evening distinguished ladies and gentlemen. My name is @jenniferjulius and today i will writing on "Self Confidence" Self-confidence a measure of one's belief in one's own abilities. It also means confident in one's abilities. My question is are you confident in yourself?

When i was still in high school, some of my friends and classmates made jest of me because i was skinny. When i walk pass them, they will throw their noses at me and laughed. I used to feel very bad back then so sometimes i'd go off to the convenient and cry. I hated my look then and i will always pray to God to make me add some flesh to get away from their insults. Going to school became a headache for me because i know i might end up crying before school closes, sometimes i'd wait till nobody is in the school compound before leaving my classroom and going back. It continued like that till i got to SS2 when i stood up to them and showed them my Self-Confidence.

Well, i was affected by their words was because i never had confidence in myself and that was why they had the guts to belittle me. I told them body size doesn't define success and i'm only skinny because i didn't create myself and even if i did create myself, i know i'm beautiful just the way i am. I gave examples of Agbani Darego that they always call me and told them if it were to be about body size and not by brains, She wouldn't won the beauty pageants, Most beautiful girl Nigeria and Miss world. I told them i'm beautiful just the way i am. I told them u didn't need big boobs or big butt to dream high. Starting then, i appreciated my body even more than they expected. A Nigerian award winnimg actress also shared her story months back about how her classmates used to call her Skinny and tallest when she was younger and how she took tons of pills to put up some weight but all to no avail. She also said she hated her look then but now she's struggling to workout everyday on the gym whenever she eats chocolate or ice cream. Funny enough after giving my classmates all this instances the insults reduced and i started gaining more friends, i was actuall strucked with suprise by the way the world will turn to you the moment you rise above your inferiority complex and show them your self-confidence. My seniors in school hailed me and called me Miss Self-Confidence. That was how i stepped up my game, ended their insults ad walked majestically everywhere in my school compound.

What am i trying to say here? Being confidence in your self is what builds your esteem. It is what makes you believe in yourself and care less what they world has to say. Haters will always be there in one way or the order looking for hurtful words to throw at you but then it is your self confidence that make those words meaninigless to you. Everybody was born with different shape, character, height and mindset. Inferiority complex should not be a word on your dictionary neither should it have a space in you vocabulary.

In Conclusion.
Be self confident in yourself and watch the world respect you. We increase our Self-Confidence from experiences of having mastered particular activities. It is a positive belief that in the future one can generally accomplish what one wishes to do. You're never going to feel confident if you have negative commentary running through your mind telling you that you're no good. So meet yourself first and prepare you for the world, this way you will be admired by others and inspire confidence in others too.

Great post @jenniferjulius! Looking very beautiful and joyful :) I think that you make a great point, that it was YOUR DECISION to be self-confident... It is up to us to build our confidence and if you don't make that first choice and have some belief in yourself, you won't progress. Yes, God surprises use when we face his challenges with courage and overcome, then the world seems much brighter than before and so does the future... Keep it up!

There is something about this post that touches me personally but unfortunately i can't say because i haven't gotten over it the way you have. Your situation is much better, because u didn't create yourself the way you are and people that were mocking you are wrong because. But what if the low self esteem you're having because of your looks, you inflicted them on you yourself? Lets take for example, you started bleaching your skin and it went wrong and you look like a mess and everywhere you go, people will blame you for bleaching and the way you look now and you know its actually your fault. How do you get over that? Its much worst than your own situation and thats the exact situation i am in. Like they say, we all have our insecurities. I just hope one day i will be confident enough to talk about it and share my survival story like you. Great post as usual.
