It's not easy being 7 feet tall.

One of my managers is over 7 feet tall.

Every day he gets asked this question:

Do you play basketball?

He does not play basketball and he is not interested in basketball at all.

When you are 7 feet tall though people look at you and they automatically think "basketball."

It's not really fair because his automatically prejudged immediately when he is seen.

Of course that's not the main problem with being 7 feet tall.

He had to buy a special car that he could fit in without hitting his head on the roof.

It is a Dodge Nitro..

It's not a bad looking car but then he didn't really have a lot of options.

He also has to constantly duck to talk to the customers.

You really end up hurting your neck if you don't duck down.

Lastly, anytime there is a confrontation and he gets involved everyone always thinks he wants to fight.

Everyone wants to take down the big guy.

It's really not fair for him.

It's not easy being 7 feet tall.

I've done this before. I'm sorry to say. 😩
Many give in to the pressure and try to play. Usually doesn't work out well for them.

That is really tall! I'm only 4'11 so I'm small in comparison. Being short people often give me annoying nicknames like half-pint or shorty. I feel for the really tall people because I know people say annoying things to them based on height just like they do us short people.

I'm 6'4" and I used to get the basketball question all the time; however I did play basketball so that satisfied people.

This reminds me of the Freakonomics question; Kevin is 7ft tall, is he more likely to be an NBA player or a bank manager?

Most people answer NBA player, even though there are millions more bank managers than pro basket ball players. We simply can't help using our pattern-seeking, box-putting brains to categorise, and height is an easy marker to use.

As far as the fight thing, it's so true; it spurred me on to learn to fight when I was younger, because even though I'm not aggressive or violent, people always wanted to prove themselves against the big guy, and sensed that I was a mellow dude.

By the way, I think your posts warrant a philosophy tag :-)
