How to Make the Most out of the Self-Isolation Period?

in #life4 years ago

While the governments are struggling to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, citizens worldwide are asked to minimize social interaction and stay indoors as much as possible. While some are required to self-isolate for 14 days as they were in contact with people who tested positive, others choose to stay at home, as advised, in order to minimize their risk of getting infected.

No matter what the case might be and how frustrating this whole situation is, let us think about the silver lining. Now, more than ever, we have time to dedicate to some activities we were always too busy for. Here are some things you can do during this lonely period when you're only allowed to get out to buy groceries (in case you live in Europe like I do).

If your books keep piling on your desk and reading list, now's the time to immerse in literature. Before you know it, this whole Coronavirus nightmare might be over and you will get caught up in the rat race again, barely able to get some free time. You should take advantage now and read those books you haven't had time for because of your busy schedule.

Watch Movies

When it comes to making a choice between books and movies, many prefer the latter. Movies can be very entertaining and they can help us forget about our daily problems at least for a little bit and this is precisely what we need now. Turn off that TV that makes your anxiety level rise each time you hear news about the deadly virus and indulge in binge watching your favourite series or movies.

Rest

If there's one thing you have when you are confined to your home and unable to meet people or even get a coffee in a bar, that's time. We now have more time for our hobbies but also for our health and this implies getting sufficient rest. They say quality sleep boosts the immune system and we need a strong one to face the virus.

Start an Online Course

You can't go to that Spanish or yoga class that's the highlight of your week, but this doesn't mean you can't start an online course.
Most of the things you can learn through traditional face to face courses can also be taught online.

There's no real positive effect of the Coronavirus. Economies are facing dreadful perspectives, people panick, some are home sick, others died but you can't do anything about all these. You can only charge your attitude, arm yourself with patience and make the most out of this period of solitude.
