Most people I feel do not immerse themselves in their own life but rather, distract themselves with illusions of what life should be.
People always find something to distract them from their present experience. At least once adult it has been carefully trained. Children have a natural ability to be present and just appreciate being alive. They are more curious and way less concerned with defending their existing ideas. In so many ways we adults have to relearn that openness without losing our skill in reasoning and discerning.
