Philanthropy definitely comes from self motivation. Doesn’t make it less valuable, since everything ultimately boils down to wanting to feel good and not feel bad for everyone. But no reason to put it on a pedestal either.

Interesting article. It gives me a few things to think about regarding what I want and what makes me happy. I think my high points are financial security, time off to spend as I see fit and helping others. It’s uncomfortable how these don't equal my current life breakdown of how I spend my time. I guess I have some work to do fixing the disparity and fixing the disconnect between what I have and what I want....
