Maja Jezerces (Prokletije)
Prokletije, known as the Albanian Alps are mountains approachable from eastern Montenegro or northern Albanian side.
They are part of Dinaric Alps or Dinarides, which is mountain chain which spans from Italy in the northwest to Albania in the southeast. The highest point is summit known as "Maja Jezerces" or "Jezerski vrh", with 2694m. There is also some high points such as Karnfili summits, Očnjak, Kolata, Djeravica, Maja Rosit, and so on...
At the altitude around 1700m there is 5 small and 1 big lake, known as "Buni Lakes". They form unique and breathtaking landscape.
The starting point for Maja Jezerces summit is Ropojana Valley in Montenegro or Valbona Valley in Albania.
Prokletije range was forbidden to all people, except army, until the middle 2000s. Then, the government open it to all visitors with emphasis on developing mountain tourism. Today, in both Valley there is small camps, restaurants or holiday homes which can be rent for 10-15€ per night.
Here is some photos and video from our recent mountaineering trip. We camped at Buni lakes for one night.
