RE: The Future: The Possibility Of Capturing Memories And Reliving Them

in #life8 years ago (edited)

What immediately came to my mind is how the next step would be to let people tailor these experiences as the technology advances. Everything could be designed - how does the wind feel on your skin while walking on the beach or what color would the sunset be. It would be like directing a movie but you'd have direct control over everything, literally everything. From all the sensations felt inside the body to the tiniest details around you.

Maybe the next step would be to have shared experiences, from two people to hundreds, thousands and millions eventually. Whole world designed just for you, talk about matrix..

There would be AI's you couldn't distinguish from other humans or none, it's up to you. At that point I could see the technology discovering how to have experiences use up minimal time of real life time, just like when dreaming. Have an experience from child to elderly in 15 minutes of time in real world while you're waiting for your friend to come by for example. Now that would be something!

E: I think the upcoming Westworld sci-fi tv-series from Jonathan Nolan (known for Interstellar, The Dark Knight and Memento) touches this area of future technology advances.

This is a really interesting and awesome point. I didnt add this part in the article but imagine a social media where you shared exchanges with people like torrenting. You put up your beach experience and someone puts up an experience of drinking a nice iced coffee at a cafe in Italy.

Or while in one experience, in this example let's use your mention of iced coffee in Italy, you could be sipping iced coffee in a cafeteria and when you're done and turn from the next corner you could be witnessing a whole new experience that was determined to be something you would like as an user from past behaviour - just like we have google trying to determine our behaviour patterns in internet the same could apply here. So it would be a one seamless experience knitted together by different designers. And now that I think of it, we sure could be having and personal AI closely monitoring us and could act as one of the designers, perhaps slightly adjusting these designs to our personal likings.

E: And as you walk down the corner, after leaving the cafeteria, the change in environment could be gradual. The buildings could slowly change from ones from Italy to more akin to something from Mexico perhaps. This are all parameters that could be adjusted.

I like the idea of relaxing in a tropical setting. But the problem is in today's society where we spend so much time online that 'the younger generation' is losing any type of social skills. It's amazing how we are coming a group of humans that only know how to express ourselves 'online' and we bury ourselves on the smartphone.. We just bought a motor to head to the deep end..
Let me know what you think?

These settings could be shared with other people, introducing social aspect. Also they could have human like AI's and these could be even used to increase social skills.
