Hi everyone! I miss you! It feels like forever...
Update - my daughter is out of the hospital. It was almost two weeks. She's improving but not all the way better. I am so glad I could come and be with her.

Basically the problem is asthma and multiple allergy triggers. At this point, I would have to say that a major reason why it got this bad has a lot to do with her age and her personality. She is young and extremely independent and likes to think she's invincible. Or at least that what she has is relatively common and the medical world is advanced enough and accessible enough to save her when needed. But this time it got really scary. She realized that doctors don't keep you in a hospital without a serious reason for concern.

She didn't listen to her body. Over the past few months she went from mini crisis to mini crisis. She didn't take her allergies seriously enough and allowed herself to be in contact with known problems such as cats, cigarette smoke, (no she doesn't smoke herself! She's not that stupid!), and other things. Short emergency room visits eventually led to this long stay.

At first I wanted the doctors to explain why at her age all of a sudden the asthma got so bad. Was there some new mystery cause? Why didn't the specialists have better answers? All next week will be Follow up visits with some of them.

The truth is I don't think anything new will be found. She learned a lesson the tough way. Just because you want to be healthy and able doesn't make you so. Positive energy is great and all that but it's not a reliable medical solution. Wanting to be accommodating to other people doesn't mean you can do so when your own life is put at risk. From now on she will use that peak flow meter on a daily basis and learn to understand what her body is telling her so she can take proper precautions whether that is certain meds or removing herself from certain environments. This is a life adjustment and not an easy one.

Most people grow out of asthma but some, it turns out, grow into it. Me, I'm feeling guilty. Maybe I should have cleaned more after all? I mean she ate from dirty floors, played in dirt, held worms and bugs. My house was far from being sterile. None of that made any difference. The doctors say her immune system is just too strong. Or as she phrased it, her immune system is paranoid like her dad, lol!

I am glad I am with her and can care for her while she tries to get back to normal strength and breathing. It's not fun to see your kid so weak, but if all goes well, with continued care and intelligent thoughtful doctors who focus on healing and not just treating symptoms she will get it all under control. I got to see firsthand how much the staff all cared about her. From the person who took her food order all the way up to the lung specialist.

If any of you have asthma related stories feel free to share. Perhaps some of you out there can relate to stories about the difficulty in accepting limitations due to health issues. I would love to hear about it.
Sending lots of love to you ❤️

We missed you too!

I am overjoyed to hear that your daughter is back with you where you can care for her.

My experiences with asthma are with my wife, she only 'mostly' grew out of asthma, and a few times I have been terrifyed running to get the honey.

I can think, I can wait, I can fast.....but oh Lord let me breathe!

we miss you too!! i hope you come back!
VeRy happy to hear you are at least making some progress, and learning some deep truths about what is needed.

Personally, i think that being overclean is the worst thing you can do for someone.. as you have discovered, or are discovering... out illnesses are a manifestation of our inner world and inner dialogue. As we grow emotionally and do the inner work, these things can also pass..

Also, i cant stress enough the need to watch the dairy.. one of the great allogeneic triggers that we consume.. that and weird things like canned food and junk basically.. much love to you both!

My not having clean house wasn't exactly on purpose, but sadly it didn't seem to help :(
I do hope she continues to learn more internal wisdom about keeping healthy. Nothing works better than prevention!
Thanks and love back to you!
I hope to rejoin more conversations soon :)

Glad to hear that your daughter is out of the hospital.
I might sound cruel, but basically she got an early wake up call, her body gave her a warning and the sooner young people learn that they are not invincible and not immortal the better. Youth tends to forget those dire facts of life.
Respiratory problems are scary because the breath is our life line. You might know this already, but pranayama, the breathing exercise of yoga, can be helpful in improving respiratory problems, also ayurvedic remedies.
A woman from our German ashram once got treated for asthma in India with some good results. Unfortunately her Ayurvedic medicine which she sent from India to Germany got stuck in German customs and though she was pleading with them to give her the medicine they refused because of some German laws.
So best wishes for you and your daughter. Hopefully she will have a full recovery.

Thank you @likedeeler
That's exactly it. She's finally realizing that listening to her own body isn't a weakness. It's what will keep her stronger and healthier. I mentioned yoga and breathing type practices to her. I hope she picks it up sometime.

You wrote LIFEdeeler. Was that intentional?

Oops! No! I should fix that!

Thanks for sharing this. It must be one of the hardest things in the world to see your children become seriously ill.
It sounds like you're doing everything you can and have a sensible, realistic understanding of the limitations of both modern and alternative medicine. I expect your probably tired of hearing loads of health advice from hippies, so I won't add any here. Like you say, the main thing is that she learns to listen to her body and then she'll know what to do or not to do. That's something we could all learn and practice, I'm sure.
Wishing her a quick and full recovery so you can both enjoy your time in the big apple together 🍏💕

Thank you @stillgideon
I always enjoy your hippie advice even if I ignore it 😄
Listening to our bodies is something we could all do better I'm sure.
The weather here has been absolutely perfect. Even without doing much I love walking out the door onto the busy neighborhood streets. A minute to here, a minute to there. Kinda fun!
Thanks for all your support. Mean a bunch 💕

So pleased that your daughter is out of hospital, not a good place to be, so much illness in them!

I have had a lifetime of illness, probably caused through pushing my body and keeping going, not listening and slowly down and not being happy! Our bodies to talk to us through illness and we need to find the message and heal it or we can end up in a bad place, which happened to me many times through my life with physical break downs. I wrote an article about, so here is the link if you want to read it

I've learnt a lot about adrenals since being ill and finding a way to heal, and most medical doctors don't seem to recognise them and have no tests to see if they are in balance or way out. If I'd been tested for adrenal imbalance in my teens and early 20s then my life would have been SO different, but I wasn't, so I do hope that this information can help others.

Sending love and healing to you and your daughter.

Thank you Michelle, and thanks for your story. Chronic health issues take their toll in so many ways. I'm so glad you found a way to heal from yours!
♥️♥️♥️

Your welcome @icmulitudes. Yes they do and I do hope your daughter finds her way to good health. <3

Hi Sarah! Oh I totally missed that one! I'm sorry your daughter isn't feeling well. Wish her good health from me. I have allergies too for cats, dust etc. I have noticed that my allergies are strongly connected to the health of my gut and stomach. Does she have any digestive problems? The thing that helps me most is to take probiotics to bring the balance back in the digestive area, this also helps with food allergies. It's even a day to day change i can notice. Like I don't do well with sugar but yesterday I had such a sugar craving and ate a bar of chocolate and it gave me tummy ache and then today I have been much more irritated in my nose too and sneezing. I know astma is a different thing then just dust allergie but I think it goes for allergies altogether. Hope this helps. Probiotics are anyway fantastic so no harm to try.

Thanks Clara,
There really are so many different possible triggers. Main thing is to get her stable first. I think she has taken some pro biotics before. What they are learning about our gut universe and how it keeps us healthy is amazing! I do try to keep up on that.
You stay well!
