Day 1/30 Be Happy Challenge: Making Happiness a Habit

Would you consider yourself to be a glass half full or a glass half empty person?

The question is a fantastic reminder that demonstrates that there are two sides to every story and it is YOUR CHOICE on how you view that story.

And that very choice determines your happiness and how happy you feel.

Whether to be happy or not is a choice that we make every day.

If your glass is half empty, you will be focusing on loss and the fact that you are almost finished your lovely glass of wine. With that choice, you are likely to feel a bit depressed about your glass of wine being nearly all gone.

If your glass is half full, the focus is on the gratitude of still having plenty of scrumptious wine to drink. This makes your mood improve and your happiness is increased.

Happiness is a conscious decision. I'm not saying it's always an easy decision, or for some us a natural decision, but it is one that is attainable to all of us to some degree. And a little more happiness is never going to go amiss.

I have been doing a lot of reading on this subject and psychology suggests that 40% of your happiness is intentional choice, 50% is genetic and 10% is life circumstances. (source)

So let's get to work on the 40% that is directly affected by how you choose to feel and how you think.

Over the next 30 days I will post exclusively on Steemit with tips, advice and strategies to help you make that conscious decision to be be happier.

It will take time and a daily conscious effort to change a habit and how we view life.

But I hope to engage and help you through these 30 days with entertaining and useful usable content and being here for any questions or assistance I might be able to give.

At the end of the happiness challenge I hope that the habits and new ways of thinking will last a lifetime and that you go on to create a more happy fulfilling life for yourself.
