Exploring Beach Caves

Caves Beach is tucked between Newcastle and Sydney on Australia's east coast.
Popular with both locals and tourist; people flock to explore the rock pools, caves and surrounding cliffs at low tide.
After enduring innumerable waves, tides and storms the rock face has been carved to a form the ocean sees fit.
The formations have been cut in a way that shows gradients of colour and allow for climbing.
Some of the caves are cut so deep you are able to walk right through. This particular section is very popular for wedding photography when the lighting is just right.
The beach adjoining the cave system is also beautiful in its own right.
After enjoying the rock pools and caves we started our drive north to our home in Newcastle. On the way we couldn't help but stop at Lake Macquarie to photograph the Sun's retreat over the water, destined for distant hills.
