How does Ego destroy people?

Ego has led to the destruction of some people whom always think they are self sufficient making them look down upon others. Some people may not be aware of their egocentric nature even though it is affecting the people around them.

The three destructive letter word "Ego" is now a habit acquired by most people whom are lucky or fortunate to have some possessions which others don't have such as wealth, knowledge, beauty, handsomeness, power, high rank or status and many others. The worst part of this is that some people don't even have anything but they still posses egocentric attitude within themselves.

Some people you see who turned out to be poor person today were once rich before, some idiot or dullards you come across today were once brilliant and intelligent before, some handsome or beautiful people whom you now dislike today were once beautiful or handsome before, some people whom you encounter at job interviews seeking for jobs were once working somewhere before, some Steemit users with low SP may once be a whale or had huge SP back then, some people you see walking with their bare foot may once had a good ride they used for transportation and many other instances you can think of. The fact is that most of these listed people were destroyed by their Ego because they always feel on top of the world due to their egocentric nature and this also makes them disrespect, insult or abuse people whom were not up to their standard because egocentric people love looking down on people.

I will share an instance that explains the concept of how Egoism can destroy people. I actually got this from a story book I once read when I was very young. The short story goes thus ;

There was a very rich and successful king whom used to think he had the whole world. He was a very popular king and people used to be very scared of him. He had very high egocentric nature in him such that he everyone do see him as their god. His high level of ego made him punish and killed anyone who doesn't accept him as god. Mhen! This is very worst of all egoism!. This king had everything all human are supposed to have. He used to himself as someone very superior which makes people looks very inferior to him. His wife was very humble and he loved his wife very much such that he always took good care of her but that doesn't stops him from reducing his egoism when it comes to some dealing with his wife.

Unfortunately for this man, he had no children nor child will will inherit his kingdom. Do you believe, he was very happy about this because he always had the mindset that "he is the one who causes death to people even though he can never die". One day, one of his fortune teller told him that a boy will inherit his kingdom if he doesn't acts very fast. On hearing this, he sent out his men to start killing every male babies (boys). His guards obeyed his command without any form of pity or sympathy before implementing his command. They killed lots of offsprings who were boys.

One day, his wife went outside with one of her female guard just to stroll around the environment and observe the beautiful nature. While they were going, they saw a baby boy in the a basket flowing towards them through the river. The king's wife ordered her guardian to bring the baby and she did as she was commanded. The baby boy was very handsome which made the king's wife admired the baby. The king's wife took a bold step by enabling the baby stay with her in the palace hoping to take care of the baby boy.

When her husband saw the baby inside the palace, he couldn't do anything about it because of the love he had for his wife. They both took care of the baby till the baby grew up. The grown up boy turned out to be a prophet of God whom will never bow for anyone except God. This made the king angry and frustrated till he threatened to kill this man. The king chased this man with the support of his guards using their horses and other war instruments just to kill this man. This man received a revelation from God directing him to pass through the sea striking his stick in the middle of the sea. The king and his guards continued chasing him till they got to the sea and the man did as he was ordered. It was said that the horse of that man passed through the sea just like the horse was walking on the land. When he got to the other side of the sea, the king's horse and his guards horses got drowned in that sea such that none of them could survive.

This king is a person you already knew about such that he is named the worst man on earth. This king is Pharoah which the Muslims call Firaun. The adopted boy was Moses. We can see how this proud king got destroyed just by water. Some other sources claimed that this egoistic king body is preserved in either Makkah or Madina. You can Google search that and check his picture of his long structural body preserved because some religious scholars said God made the promise of preserving his body till the day of judgement.

This shows us that we have to be very careful about how dealings with people maybe because we are fortunate to have something they don't have. We have to stay humble no matter our status in life and we shouldn't look down on anyone because the person you look down on today maybe the person whom will help you to tomorrow.

Albert Einstein once said "Ego is the inverse of knowledge. This applies to every student to always stay humble no matter how much that think they know when compared to their colleagues.

In conclusion, Ego can destroy you if you don't find a way of curbing it out because everyone won't be valuable to you. You will always see people as useless dogs because you always look down on them when they mean nothing to you.

Positive attitude and humbleness can make you successful while Egoism can destroy you if you are not careful.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps
