Hobbies w/ Fred - The Drink of the Gods
What's up cryptomanics? Making good investments? Lets take a break on that!
Lets talk about the favorite drink of gods and the next big trend in the future. MEAD!
Mead is an ancient beverage, thought by many to be the first fermented beverage. Mead is made by fermenting honey, water, and yeast.
Another term often used is "honey-wine". There are many different types of mead, depending on added spices, fruits, and grains. What is mead made of is influenced by culture. Different cultures add different spices and herbs. It was a sacred drink in many early cultures, in every corner of the world.
Mead can have an alcohol content of 19% or as low as 3 or 4 percent. It can be carbonated like a beer or like a sparkling wine. Can be aged for years or drunk two weeks after the start of fermentation. Mead works well as an aperitif, dinner wine, after dinner cordial or whenever you want just because you can.
We have alot of varieties like traditional mead, braggot, metheglin, melomel, there are alot of them, yes ALOT, we are talking about a thousand types of mead arround the world.
My favorite is short mead, with 6% alcohol and short fermentation you can drink like beer but it's more like a honey cider. Its aerated, not too sweet, not too bitter, you can put ice or without, you choose how to drink it and if you put some mint you'll go to heaven in seconds.
Mead in some countries its still a baby and its very hard to find and when you find you will need alot of bling bling to take it home . Because of this alot of people are starting to make homemade mead.
Unfortunately i never made a video about my homemade short mead but i will leave a very good one about traditional mead.
Enjoy it and dont forget. Drink responsibly!

I made mead once. I made a non boil mead with honey, water, yeast, orange slices, raisins, anise and cinnamon. It went about six months and ended at close to 15% abv. I used desert wine yeast. Big mistake. It was cloyingly sweet. I stick to beer now.
