I have to agree with you on this. I see many similarities between the two eras.
With the introduction of social media, hiding behind the screen to spread your words, hatred and name call others that are not like you, or those you disagree with has been on the rise. It is ruining our country, values and opportunity to progress forward.
People on social media are so quick to create a division and their followers chant and rant in unison.
Social media behavior has become ridiculous and that is why I no longer visit, post or comment on those sites. Freedom of speech and friendly debate are becoming less and less; while accusations and lies are running rampant.

Thanks for your comments @goldendawne. Many people argue that it is our leaders that have produced such division, and yes, we currently have some crazy leaders across the globe, but it is also 'we' the people who are doing it to ourselves.
