Energyless Sunday

Yesterday was a very hot day and with the added insult that we had no power, it is getting to be routine that on Sundays we don't get energy and we are not even in Venezuela. Allways they have the same excuse that they are fixing cabling or changing one thing or another. But this is a never ending ordeal, we here in La Ceiba are in fact lucky because some other towns that are further to the east of here, good sized towns to, are usually without energy for a couple of hours every day.

This is of course detrimental in every way, energy is cut off at 08:00 am and isn't back until around 16:30, no fans no air conditioning, if you have an electric stove no cooking (I wonder if the light company is in cahoots with the fast food places, they make a lot of business on these days), many people just leave town and go to the beach or to a river which I guess is OK for them, I personally don't like the beach or the river so I stay here upset.

Then after the power came back, it turns out our cable company which provides cable TV and internet had some problems of its own with some cables and they had to fix them, so even though at 17:00 I had power I had no TV and no internet, you don't miss these things until you don't have them. I was beginning to think it wouldn't come back yesterday so since I had to send my Actifit report I walked to the park where they have free internet (I don't know who the provider is, but it is a government service) luckily the service was OK and I was able to post.

On my return home, as always happens the internet and TV came back about five minutes later so I walked to the park because I am an idiot. So I also missed all the football games yesterday, including my team being beaten by the team that was in last place and now the local football team Vida is in last place and looking at a much feared loss of category.

That would really kill this place, no jobs, no money, not much of anything and to top it off no football team in the national league. This would be a terrible blow for the team's fans as Vida has never lost its category since the beginning of professional football in Honduras.
