Come Together (And let's be free)

Though, on a drastically different topic I would like to comment on the subject of free speech. This could even be extended to the very idea of freedom of thought. Lately It's been such a hot topic (and somewhat controversial and divisive, if you can believe it!). Who would have thought that any rational and compassionate person could argue against such a concept.
Free speech has gone from a belief as a fundamental human right to one that ought to be regulated. But by whom? Who can you trust with such a fundamental right?
Certainly not politicians!
COME TOGETHER
Everything has become sterile
White flags of neutrality
Diversity but not of opinions
Tow the line
Or face the wrath of the oppressor's minions
I just want to be free
To think and dream in comfort
Without fear
Of Gestapo and Stasi militants
Enforcing tolerance
How queer
Speech police
Putting fathers in jail
For vocalizing compassion
Expressing concerns for victims of violence
Of ideologies of oppression
We turn a corner now
Are we free men or slaves
Our words are censored
Our thoughts coerced
Freedom is gained by those with a will of might
As Thomas wrote, I implore thee
Do not go gentle into that good night

I couldn't agree more. We have got to start jailing some of the anti-Constitutional, anti-American types for inciting violence, or whatever...

Hi. Yes I wrote the poem. My writing is always original unless noted. I pretty much exclusively post original writing though. Occasionally I post original photography but most of the time my images are CC0 creative commons images.
Thanks for the comment. I think fundamentally most Americans (and frankly this is problem in much of the world - at least the Western world) can come together again and get back to a harmonious existence.
Really, only a tiny minority of radicals have very successfully managed to highjack the high ground and have done so by playing on the generally tolerant and decent attitudes of the vast majority of people.
I see this changing though. The key in my opinion is the youngest generation. They are able to see through the deceit and ploys for control better than the generations in the drivers seat. They thirst for real equality and peace. They are the ones driving the preservation of freedom on the interest and autonomy from control and tyranny through blockchain technology. I'm hopeful that we have indeed turned a corner.
