Struggling With Sleepless Nights? Stop!

in #life6 years ago (edited)

We all know that on an average every human being is required to sleep 8-10 hours a day. Otherwise, when we wake up, we feel irritated, pissed off and also we are not in our normal state of mind. First and foremost, proper sleep is essential for proper well being of a person. Yes, sleep mostly affects the health of a person.

When we sleep, we forget the worldly worries and when we wake up, we obviously go for a fresh start. And on the other hand, if people do not sleep at night and keep thinking about the mistakes they have done, the problems going on in their life, their regrets from the past, their unsuccessful life, they can get prone to depression.

And depression once inhaled, takes the life out of you. Once you fall sick of depression, it gets pretty hard to come out of it. And it also further gives birth to more diseases. My point is one should acquire proper sleep at night without giving a thought on what is going on and what will happen in the future. Sleep is as necessary for a human being as the basic necessities like the food, clothing, and shelter.

Now, there are some points highlighting the importance of good sleep.

Poor Sleep Inbuilt Obesity Problems

People who tend to sleep less than the average hours of sleep are prone to obesity problems. This is also because when one does not sleep early at night, he may feel hungry. Then he searches for food and there is a 99% possibility that he'll eat junk food. Either he'll order something from outside, or else he'll eat packets of lays, cookies, sweet, salty and other spicy food. And ultimately, it will result in the weight gain of the person.

Poor Sleep Makes You Less Focussed

For us to live proud in the competitive world, our brain must function accordingly. Sleep and functioning of the brain are largely interconnected with each other. Lack of sleep disrupts the functioning of the brain. The brain then is less focused and does not assist in effective and efficient production. The human brain functions in lot different ways so it is essential for a human being to possess good sleep.

Poor Sleep Makes You Less Social

When one is deprived of good sleep, he loves being isolated, distance himself from people and also does not talk with many people. This is because due to the poor sleep, our ability to recognize human emotions also get deprived. We then are unable to understand even the normal human emotions like the anger, happiness, excitement, fulfillment, engagement, sadness and many others. When one faces difficulty in understanding the other person's point of view and perception, how will he make a close bond with the other person?

Poor Sleep Makes You Lazy

When one is deprived of proper sleep, he feels tired on waking up itself. And then, his whole day goes like this only. You people can relate to this if you ever had a sleepless night or a few sleepless nights before. When the day continues, you do every single work very slowly and after a little work, you feel sleepy again. This is also why good sleep is essential for every human being.

Poor Sleep Gives Birth To Diseases

When deprived of sleep, there are 99% chances that a person will be prone to diseases in the near future. When we fall short of sleep as already discussed above our brain stops functioning in the normal way, we get prone to obesity, we get lazy, our concentration level slows down and all this then gives birth to major diseases.

At last, I would just love to say that in today's time almost every person is deprived of good sleep. The reasons can be anything, also other than that stated above. The reasons can also be loads of work, late night offices or any other. But, my point is one should at least sleep better for everything can be handled after the sleep. Problems are a part of life. Sticking to them will help in no way. And disrupting sleep for them can never help in any way. Sleep well, produce more.

Hope you all enjoyed the post..

Beautifully explained. Lack of sleep is an extremely dangerous thing yet it's worrisome that most people are either not aware of its dangers or underestimate them and as a result end up overlooking them. Kind of how people underestimate the dangers of consuming excess salt, sugar, carbohydrates and vegetable oil. Lack of sleep gravely disturbs our body's circadian rhythm and our internal organs start ageing faster as a result which then translates to a shorter than usual life-span.

Just two weeks ago I learnt a very simple and effective sleeping technique. Basically it involves switching every single light off in your room and sitting on the edge of your bed for a good twenty-thirty minutes while trying to think nothing. It takes barely five minutes to fall asleep once you do that haha.

Yes, lack of sleep is something that consumes a person's physical and mental health fully. One should at least take proper sleep for rest will happen later. Good sleep is something very essential for the well being of a person.

Very interesting and informative write up this. However it does not address my lack of sleep issue. That's because sleep deprivation is the fate of new mums :D Jokes apart, you have a way with words Khushboo!
