"Steem Monsters" Tournament Prize Payouts Hit $10,000!

The blockchain-based juggernaut that is Steem Monsters continues to demolish previous historic crypto-related landmarks and this is yet another sweet victory to chalk up on their blackboard.

The concept of the STEEM blockchain being capable of producing a pool of rewards as a mechanism to pay it's users, is unreal in itself. But turning it into a flourishing business model is another thing altogether. Miraculously, the team of @yabapmatt and @aggroed have done just that. I was in awe when the "Tournaments" feature was put into practice as beautifully as it was, but the sheer amount of dollar valued payouts dished out so far, has exceeded anything I could have imagined possible in such a short time span.

And taken one step further, I'm also amazed by what is capable in regards to this blockchain if certain key elements are married together, such as is the case with the Steem Monsters model. I mean, we're dealing with a monetary eco-system which is pretty much self-contained and self-sustaining. This has gotta be nothing short of revolutionary and makes the mind boggle and wonder what other undiscovered gems are yet to surface as time goes by. I mean, $10,000 worth of payouts is just astounding. Of course, there are huge tournaments already held in the world of e-sports where the prize money can get downright ridiculous at times, but it's all via sponsorship deals, merchandise sales and royalties. As I said earlier, all we've got is the STEEM blockchain where all the action is taking place. All in this digital landscape where pretty much anything appears to be possible.

In Steem Monsters, everyone has got a shot at winning. Now there are many different options available to us where tournaments are modified to suit your specific card levels. There should be no excuses for losing if you matched the tournament to your cards league wisely. However, I've heard a few complaints that only a few people are winning the majority of prizes out there whereas everybody else is getting left behind. And all I gotta say to that is what a great example of "survival of the fittest". I've got a decent enough collection and like to think I'm at least average when it comes to playing the game, but I've actually had my ass handed to me on numerous occasions, by players who were much better than I and with lesser levelled cards. The way I see it, if you ain't winning all that much, keep practising to improve your skills on the battlefield!

And it's something that could be very much worth your while in the long run because more and more tournaments are catering for novice players where everyone is on equal footing. One such tournament was recently held thanks to @goldmatters, who's fast becoming a recognised organiser in the field. Big props to that guy for all his great work!

I'm stoked at how well Steem Monsters is doing. A cunningly addictive game and the perfect benchmark application for all other developers to take cues from, when designing their own product. This is easily one of the greatest Dapps ever produced for any blockchain out there, period. I literally cannot wait to see what's next in line from this incredibly talented duo...

My students are all addicted to Free Fire a Fortnite clone. I got some of them to play Steem Monsters instead. They've won some cool cards, but they were forced to learn new words in English to understand the game.
