Could This be The Next Big Thing after Bitcoin?

in #life5 years ago (edited)

In recent weeks, YouTuber "davincij15" has grown immensely in popularity due to his uncanny predictions concerning BTC's price index and usability cases in the past. Such examples include calling the top at $20,000 or declaring Bitcoin as the "next big thing" back in 2012. People are so enamored with him that some swear that he is Satoshi Nakamoto himself. However, he prophetic statements are taking somewhat of a different turn, as of late.

After gaining quite a cult following during his time in the spotlight, "davinvij15" has been hinting at a certain altcoin being the "next big thing" following Bitcoin's monumental success story over the last decade. Himself and a few lesser known YouTubers who are enjoying the audiences he's attracting for their channel, have been methodically building up this "mystery" coin, which fulfills a certain list of criteria that "davincij15" has outlined previously. Examples being that it must have it's own blockchain, be intrinsically scalable, etc. As you can imagine, this has got tongues wagging and fervent anticipation building up in the background.

Anyways, today he revealed the name of this superstar coin. It is a new project, due for launch on 15th January. A token going by the name of Grincoin. Yes, grin as in an understated smile! Now, don't get me wrong. This is crypto where anything and everything happens. And this coin could possibly be the true competitor to BTC, but what set off the alarm bells was that it's not actually out yet. This sudden speculation centered around this new token now puts it in a prime position for a good old "pump and dump" to play out. Now, in "davincij15's" defense, he recommended to wait until the hype dies down and we plateau at a price bottom of sorts, but the cat is already out the bag. People will be jumping on this train, believing that even if price does go down, they'll be bag-holding a winner over the long term. Herd mentally is a very real phenomena, especially in the crypto space.

This kind of reminds me of the ICO craze, not too long ago, where bold promises by (many times fraudulent) development teams meant huge profits to be had by certain "insider" groups at the time. Again, I'm not saying Grincoin is one of them. I'm just stating that I feel people would benefit by seeing a real and tangible reason to be buying into this new coin than just purely jumping on the bandwagon and letting the fat cats cash in on all that innocent money. Let's see. After today's announcement, I'll be watching what happens next very closely...

And no, I most definitely will "not" be investing. :)

Maybe this guy is part of the developer team that is trying to hype the coin before it is been release to the crypto audiences, what will make grincoin so special that it will beat Bitcoin in the future . To me it is just another hype coin

Well, I certainly ain't buying into it.

I don't really consider something real for the people who try to predict the future of coins. Of course, everyone think that coin X ou Y will reach the moon and something like that, but use that as a path to invest, is a financial suicide.

I think we've all had our fill of predictions right about now.

The days of 100x after listing on an exchange are over as investors are becoming more demanding on where to allocate capital as the majority of projects have underperformed not only in price but even in development. Roadmaps are now worth less that the paper they are printed on as projects have run out of funds to continue developing. While there will always be “diamonds in the rough,” I think it is best to remain with the big assets unless bery technically saavy and can find a great project and team.
