Chilling With the "3Speak" Crew

in #life7 years ago

Yesterday evening, the three of us (@exyle, @rea and myself) had the pleasure of spending some quality time with @starkerz and @anarcotech from "3Speak". Very kind of them given that they're very pushed for time and on a busy schedule as it is. I usually can't get enough of chatting about STEEM as it is so you can imagine that our conversation went into overdrive when we all got together. And, of course, I managed to take away a stack of insightful, relevant and useful information from them both.

First off, let me say this one thing. These guys are 100% dedicated to unlocking the potential of the STEEM blockchain for us all. They genuinely love the technology at play here as well as the STEEM community itself. They work tirelessly on a daily basis, travelling long distances most of the time, to make connections and secure deals on our behalf. So as you can imagine, the level of respect I have for what they are doing and achieved thus far, is off the charts. Make no mistake about it, they want to and are determined to, make this blockchain succeed.

However, new and innovative ways of looking at the economics of the STEEM model, are a huge variable going forward. In other words, the mindset where "something" is exchanged for "something else" is crucial for everyone here to grasp and accept. We all (myself included) have always perceived this blockchain as a place for individuals to earn rewards from posted content. Fine and dandy. But, as with anything in life, there eventually has to be some sort of balance brought to the table. In our case, whatever is "spent" (like an upvote) can then be replaced in the eco-system by another item of similar value. Be that digital or not, like cash or crypto. With a view that this platform is not simply seen as a tool for "taking endlessly without putting anything back again". A utopian perspective for now, but something I think we should be striving towards.

A nice solution to this would be developing business-based Dapps, such as Splinterlands. Here, you can spend STEEM in exchange for digital cards. A recognizable and fair transaction has taken place, for the betterment of both parties involved and the eco-system in general. I believe this is the mindset required to push the STEEM blockchain in the next evolutionary step of it's existence. @starkerz is very well versed in the economics of STEEM as well as the outside world and sees the importance of spreading the ideology of "perceived value" for the STEEM token. And after hearing what he had to say last evening, the whole thing just made sounds and logical sense. Thank the good lord we've got people like him on-board to come up with stuff like this.

There has to be a preferably equal inflow and outflow of value within the STEEM eco-system. Otherwise it will always be seen as a seller's paradise. Something that may appear desirable in the near term, but could prove to have devastating consequences further down the line. We need a consistent stream of investment as well as regular on-chain transactional activity for things to turn around. Because at the moment, our low levels of liquidity and volume are contributory factors to stagnant growth. We need a drastic change in the underlying cultural mindset of anyone involved in *STEEM. I believe this can happen and we have the right people doing the right things to make that happen.

I see the STEEM blockchain as easily one of the most undervalued tokens in crypto today. A solid blockchain with incredible user activity and respected technology within the circles that count (FCAS, for instance). But the harsh reality of the matter is that the crypto markets are mostly concerned about speculation value. Who promotes their token the best or has the best stories to tell about their product. Expect in regards to us, we actually have the evidence to back up any bold claims we make. A few tweaks in a few key areas and we'll be a force to be reckoned with within the crypto space. That much is easy enough to see. Will it happen? Well, from the recent posts I've been reading in addition to the fascinating conversation I had yesterday with the boys, I sure think we have a excellent chance of working things out. Onwards and upwards, my Steemian friends. Looks like the STEEM blockchain is just getting warmed up...

So much talent on board to fail!
I wish someday I could meet you all and join your talks. Almost none of my friends enjoys talking about crypto and that is frustating!
