A Movie and Some Tasty Food Should Suffice Nicely...

Since watching the first teaser trailer for "The Meg" a few months back, I've been waiting for the movie to come out. Well, that day is finally here and so the wife and I headed out to the our local cinema this evening to check it out.

Though not before picking up some nice grub nearby. Don't wanna disturb the other theatre goers with rumbling bellies now, do we? So, a bowl of "Teriyaki Chicken" with a diet coke later and we were all set for some serious fish action! Well, you get what I mean, lol. :)

I've finished seeing the movie now and gotta say I liked it. For what it is. Meaning that if you manage to temporarily switch off 90% of your brain before going in, you'll have a "whale" of a time. Pun damn well intended! I mean, the acting was at times worse than a poorly written television soap opera. This little girl in it (who everyone in the theatre annoyingly kept on "cooing" over") was as wooden as a pirate's prosthetic stump. Simply atrocious in every sense of the word. However, the main star of the show was the shark itself, of whom certainly didn't disappoint. Again, you get what you expect going in. If the trailer doesn't appeal to you, then obviously don't watch it. The divide of audiences with a movie like this is literally white and black. There is no middle ground.

One small gripe I had was not with the film, but certain individuals in the auditorium. One guy sitting next to me, thought it necessary to audibly comment a play-by-play of the movie in real time. Talking about how cute the girl was or how the shark is too strong to overcome with the weapons they possess. Stating the obvious, really. And right the way through! What a dumb prick. I actually told him to shut up at one point, but was drowned out by a sudden loud boom from the speakers as the shark flew out of nowhere upon the screen. So no, he didn't hear me. What it is with people and movies these days? Can't they just "sit and watch" whilst staying quiet at the same time? How hard can that really be?

Anyways, apart from that, everything else was great. Food and movies. Yes, I do like the simple life... :)
