Vlog 279: Taking profits gradually.
9 months ago I made this vlog where I bought STEEM for under a $1 (with FIAT).
What I know now, but not back then is that that was the last opportunity to do so.
I don't think we saw sub-dollar STEEM since then.
Pretty crazy.
Last night we saw a spike in the price and it went up to $3.24. (come down now to $2.90).
I did take some profit by selling some SBD (not STEEM) to fiat.
Taking profit is essential when it comes to investing and I think SBD @ $3 is not a bad place to start.

Good thing you can go in that season to steem at 1 dollar. I entered in February 2018 and the price was already a little high. However, I changed my crypto-coins for steem a few days ago. Two days after switching, steem rose by about 50%. I thought it was cool, hehehe.
My plan here is to accumulate lots of sp to always have more voting power and gain more sbd and to be able to help others with upvote. I will only begin to make a profit and turn into fiat money from the middle of next year.
What do you think of my strategy?

Your strategy sounds good. There are so many application being built on the Steem blockchain and you own a piece of all of that action! SMT's could be a game changer!

It was once steem so low that most steemians were worried.
I do remember steem was around 80 cents.

Morning @exyle. Looks like we're going to have another gorgeous day too so I'm catching up here and then going to head off to the beach a little later.
Recently there seems to be a lot of talk about something called the dust threshold. i haven't come across this before and wanted to ask you about it, Basically it says that if the pay out of a post or comment is below SBD 0.02 the pay-out will be set to zero.
I have been spreading my votes wide in order to give the smaller accounts a bit of a boost. However, apart from the social aspect of doing this it seems that my votes have been, for a large part, pointless in that the recipient won't have been paid anything. In which case, maybe I should place fewer votes of higher value on comments.
So, I'm wondering, is this dust threshold for real?
This is a great question @gillianpearce I am curious too. I've been seeing this dust threashold thing before. But, previous to hearing about it, somewhere along the lines, i also picked up some info that the actual decimal places of digits is something like 5. So, 0.00005 say. And, even if it shows 0.00 there's some value in there and that value accumulates. Mixed messages!

Yes. I thought the same @yogajill, that there was some value even if it shows zero. That's still true I think if there are multiple votes on posts/comments since I think it applies to the total amount not any one person's value.
But for us at the lower end of the scale, with fewer followers, comments in particular can often only get one vote. 😢

Ha, ha, ha! @kus-knee. I'm definitely understanding it better. That's for sure. But there seems to be something new to learn everyday. This whole dust threshold thing has caught me, and many other plankton/minnows, by surprise.
If it was put in place to help stop comment spam it has failed miserably, not least because teh spammers themselves probably don't know about it. 😁
