Flawed Science - Motherisk Commission Formed To "Rectify" Bad Science That Impacted Over 1,200 Child Welfare Cases In Canada

Irrefutable Proof

Science is the end all be all to many government agencies, used heavily in court cases to prove guilt that can range from penalties, imprisonment and even death.

So, what happens if science is wrong?

This is exactly what happened when a commission found that hair-based tests administered by the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Of the 1,200 cases in which the lab tests were used, 56 of those cases resulted in "substantial" impact (i.e. the removal of the children from the home). Parents of the children were often powerless against the test results, as there was no checks or balances on the tests themselves, causing a bias case against the parents. As of the writing of my article, my sources show that out of the 56 "substantial" cases, only seven have "achieved legal remedy", with only four of the cases resulting in the children being returned home.

One case in particular, the flawed hair-sampling reported that the mother (name with-held due to publication ban) showed that she was consuming 18 drinks a day which "solidified" her ex-husbands claims of negligence and her children were taken away based on the sample. Fortunately the children were returned, however not until 6 1/2 years later.

Reports from the parents indicate that the testing was done repeatedly, and the demographic data shows a trend in the poorer families;

The testing was imposed on people who were among the poorest and most vulnerable members of our society, with scant regard for due process or their rights to privacy and bodily integrity. Many people experienced the testing, particularly when it was done repeatedly, as intrusive and stigmatizing.

Lack Of Standards

While pulling information on this case, I came across something in which concerns me in regards to international communication and standards. In the state of Colorado, evidence from this lab was tossed out due to "extensive problems with how the hair-strand tests were being done". This issue was identified more than 20 years before the country of Canada even began to question the legitimacy of the labs. Matter of fact, reports say that child welfare agencies in five provinces in Canada paid for the tests.

This issue was only brought to the attention of the Canadian government after the joint investigation of the Fifth Estate, The Current and the Toronto Star revealed this and the Toronto Star continued to reveal problems in the labs testing in child welfare cases.

This just continues to look like lack of oversight by the governing body and/or revealing a rigged system to continue to feed the monstrous beast of legal kidnapping.
