🐶ADOPT DON'T SHOP - McFly Is Almost 1!
Before I jump into the post - If you are ever looking at getting a furbaby please for the love of all things beautiful and innocent - PLEASE - ADAOPT DON'T SHOP! There are so many helpless little angels who die needlessly every year because shelters cant manage the sheer numbers that they are flooded with. It's fucking tragic.
Time passes too quickly
Please just smash the clock
The last year has been nothing but changes. Some big. Others I've never given a second thought. One of the biggest changes was that after 11 years of being together my wife and I got a dog. It was anything but a simple process. After years of back-and forth I found my self working from home and figured there was no better time to do it - We called multiple breeders - No luck - we would have had to wait months. So we went looking online.
Brief run Down Of what happened
- We did the stupidest thing possible
- We called a stranger who posted an add on kijiji.
- $900 later we found out......
- He was sick
- like BAD
- Nearly dead
- Parvo
- Parasites
- Worms
- less than 6 hours after purchasing him he was rushed to the animal hospital
- $3000 in medical bills over 3 days
- We soon had to choose between surrendering him to the humane society or putting him down
- We chose to surrender
It was the worst day of my life. I said a prayer and left him at the vets. For over a month I was a mess. I've never cried so much. I put everything into tracking the seller down. I found them. I've sat on the information. They lied about how old he was. They lied about his health. They lied about what kind of dog he was. The person was even spoofing their phone number so calling back proved useless very quickly.
I was lost. My wife was lost. Most of our sadness came from seeing him in pain. About a month later we attended the wedding of a family member. When we got home that night we talked about missing the dog and how nice it would have been to have him greet us when we walked in the door. Tail wagging. We didn't talk about it but there was a very real possibility he wouldn't have made it.
We fell asleep in each-others arms. I said another prayer - Asking my higher power for a miracle - Wanted him back. I needed him. We Needed him. I begged. Silently screaming at the ceiling.
The next day My wife and I were given the greatest gift in the world...... We found out he lived- And that he had been adopted by some one we know. Long story short - They've asked us to.... Um.... "Dog-sit..... indefinitely. "
I would go through hell for this little fucker. I cant even quantify how I feel about him. It's unexplainable. Anyway like the title suggests - His 1st birthday is approaching and I'm just so thankful he's back in our lives. Just wanted to share a Bit about his journey so far.
Don't worry I've kept tabs on the seller - Cooler heads have prevailed - They have since moved on to selling used cars. I know we will cross paths again some day.
Like I said up top - If you're going to get a furbaby -ADOPT DON'T SHOP - IF you really want to shop - do it the right way - form reputable breeders - Avoid things like Kijiji and Craigslist.
Thanks for stopping by - Come back soon
E. & Mcfly
Great story... glad he made it back into your life!
Hey man - Thank you very much. I've wanted to talk about it for a while - it's just a really touchy subject. My wife still can't think about it. She's just happy he's home. We both are.
Dogs are the best thing in the entirety of the whole damn universe.
He's gorgeous and it seems miraculous that he came back into your lives again.
The number 1, absolutely before anything else, thing I'm gonna do when my health and/or finances improve is get a dog. It's like no other relationship and life just is not complete without one. I miss my Lester, it's been almost five years since he was put to sleep. My ex and I got him from an animal shelter here in Melbourne. He'd been on death row twice and taken off again because they "saw something in him". He was totally untrained and nuts when we got him. He ate my ex's dinner and his shoes, shat all over the place, ripped up pillows all over the backyard ... and then he settled down and he was just awesome. He was his own person, totally. I miss him like I miss people gone from my life.
Yay dogs! Just yay and yay.
He's gorgeous for sure lol. Super fancy all the time!! I agree totally - animals are our guardian angels. Sorry your had to say goodbye to Lester - my heart breaks for you. McFly was the same when we got him back - I can't imagine what he went through while he was away from us - took about 6 months for him to start calming down. He's super chill now. But has his moments - I hope you get a new furbaby soon !! All the best.
oh man. he's adorable. what tale!
I've got two pups of my own. One's a rescue. After reading your post I think I'll write about him.
Don't you mean "tail" lol - I'd love to read about your puppers - tag me when you post so I can be sure to check it out!!
I love this story and I am just beyond pumped that there was a happy ending!! There is nothing as divinely pure as dog love. Sending much love your way. K x
I very much agree @katet everyone he meets loves him - His story is super inspiring - I've working on a documentary about Kijiji dogs / cats - super sad stuff - Take those humaine society commercials and multiply it by 100. I just hope I can spread awareness and people listen. Thank you for checking out the story. All the best!
