Inner beauty

Plastic surgeries have become a “trend” and that is really something we should worry about. Ok, everyone can do whatever he/she wants -who am I to judge- but why changing our appearance turned out to be such an obsession?

Big lips, small nose, D cap and huge bum are a must.

Sure some characteristics are more liked than others but even that depends on each person’s taste. So by a general assumption that men like the Barbie type we run to the plastic surgeon to have a total make over. Just to become more attractive as if this is the only thing that matters.

Individuality died?

Well, if everyone wants to be the same with everyone else, probably individuality is at the ER trying hard to survive. If being different is an “out” then I guess that we are becoming more and more “trendy” with all those tiny noses around.

I think it’s time to reconsider what really matters and start looking at the forest and not the tree. What really matters and cannot go under the knife is the inner beauty. Personality is stronger than anything else and that is also the best reason to get attracted by or fall in love with someone.

Humour, kindness, intelligence, interests, chemistry are much more important than a juicy pout. We are so much more than a fancy appearance. The mind is by far the best seductive “tool”. The inside can tell a million more words than the outside.

By changing who you are, you are making your insecurities become stronger. You are not solving the problem by correcting a crooked nose. You just sweep everything under the rug. The real problem is why this crooked nose comes in the way as a problem? I’ve met many people with facial characteristics that don’t meet the so called “perfect” but they have so strong personalities that make everything look absolutely astonishing on them.

Another approach on that, a more sentimental one if you want, is that everything we are is inherited from our parents, grandparents and so on. On me I can see my father’s eyes, my mother’s smile even my grandmother’s expression. Why on earth would I change that?

Everything we are is a reason to be proud of. We have to resist to the most materialistic era we live in and embrace ourselves. By changing who you are outside, you are not becoming more successful, more accepted or more loved. What we all have to work on is the precious inside, the one that time cannot distort but on the other hand can sculpt into a better version of it.

Sort:

Changes must begin within us. Otherwise, there is no point. In fact, you women are too nanny with us men. You all pamper us. And then you reap the fruits of your excessive kindness towards us. The entire beauty industry is built on your desire to please us.

Yesterday I watched the movie "Mother!" (Darren Aronofsky). I'm still impressed by the sacrifices of women.

Oh I haven't watched it... I will! :)

We will discuss this topic once again after viewing

Yes of course! Thank you for the suggestion :))

Well thats true but as you very well said, changes must be done for us, not to please others.. But I still cannot find any meaning in changing who we are :)

We totally see things eye to eye.
I agree with your views :)

Everybody wants to be somebody else nowadays.

I know... But I don't know why... I am totally ok with who I am :P

Maybe it's easy to say that when you're you or me! :P I've always kept that in mind!

I think family plays an important role to that.. Maybe we are lucky to be raised that way :)

o Tsipras tha xriastei plastiki se ligo giati de tha kserei poy na kliftei!!! :PPPPP

χαχαχα μια διαφορετική αλλά πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα προσέγγιση! :P

You said the magic word, when it comes to attraction: chemistry... It's a sum of things and attributes (including appearance) that make you click with someone. Appearance by itself is nothing...

Remember a post you made a few days ago about social media and people not being real in what they publish in there? I think that's where this problem arise from... We are living in a world of image, which started with the tv 30 years ago and it grew to today's form in social media.
You can even find males falling into this trap...! Either doing plastic surgeries or getting drugged to have a fat-less body and six-packs.
I think I should write a post about this male version of the story! :))

Exactly! This is how it started and how it is now... I find the whole thing happening a bit destructive from what really matters in life in general... I hope I'm not the only one who got sick of all these. I also hope that slowly this will change. We cannot support everything on the so called "precious image" and the materialistic side of everything.
I would love to read about the male version from you! :)

You are definitely not the only one, cause I am sick of it as hell too!
That's the whole point with the media... To destruct the values and the critical thinking...
I believe it will change because people seem to awaken, not rapidly yet but encouragingly.
Change happens one person at a time, until we reach the critical mass! :)
Male version coming soon then! :)

Oh Im glad that I have company to that :P So lets just hope for the best!
Im really looking forward to read yours!! :))
